Be it known thatl, HENRY F. BUETTNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hampton, in the county of Franklin and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Supporting Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

rlhis invention relates to swinging andadj ustable supports or brackets for typewriters, and for like purposes, and has for one of its objects to provide a simply constructed device of this character which may be attached to a stationary support such as a desk, table, or the-like, and which may be adjusted vertically and rotatively and clamped in adjusted position.

lVith these and otherobjects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention.

The improved device includes a supporting or base plate 10 adapted to be attached to a stationary support, for instance a desk, a portion of which is rindicated at 11.

Extending from the plate 10 near its upper portion is a socket or apertured lug 12, and extending from the base plate near its lower portion is another socket or lug 13, the latter being of the split form and having a clamp screw 14.

The bracket portion of the improved device comprises an upper horizontal portion 15 and an obliquely directed bracing portion 16, preferably formed of sections o-f tubing united by brazing or electrical welding, but may be solid rods.

A pin 17 depends from the bracket member 15 and engages in the bore of the lug 12, while a similar pin 18 depends from the brace 16 and engages in the bore of the lug 13.

By this means the bracket device is supported to swing laterally, and may be clamped in position by actuating the clamp* screw 14. Y

Attached to. or formed integralwith the member 15 ofthe bracket isy an internally threaded sleeve 19 to receive a threaded standard 20, the latter held in adjusted posi- Y tion by a jamb nut 21.

Attached to or formed integral with the standard 20 and spaced below the upper end thereof is a laterally directed head member 22, and riveted or otherwise rigidly attached at 23 to the head member is a relatively large supporting plate 24.

The projecting upper ends of the standard 20 extends through the plate -24 and is upset as shown to assist in holding the plate-in position and supplementing the holding force of the rivets 23. The union between the pin 2O and the plate 24 is thus materially strengthened and the tendency to work loose under strain obviated.

Riveted or otherwise rigidly attached at 25 to the supporting plate is a platform member 26 to support a typewriter a portion of the base of the latter being represented conventionally at 27.

By this means a convenient and simply constructed device is produced whereby a typewriter or other device or object may be supported in position relative to a desk, table` or other support, which may be adjusted vertically, moved laterally or rotatively, and locked in adjusted position.

The device may be constructed of any required size or of any desired material.

The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed in the drawings and set forth in the specification, but it will be understood that modifications within the sco e of the claimed invention may be made in the construction Without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

' 1. A device of the class described oomprising a base member adapted to be attached to a support and having spaced vertically alined sockets, a bracket device having depending pins engaging respectively in said sockets and with an internally threaded sleeve at the free end, a threaded stud engaging in said sleeve, a. laterally directed head carried by said stud and spaced below the upper end thereof, a supporting plate apertured to receive the portions of the stud above the head and bearing on the head and attached thereto, and a platform supported on said plate.

2. A device of the class described including a bracket adapted to be attached to a support and having an internally threaded sleeve at the outer end, a threaded stud engaging in said sleeve and having a lateral head spaced from the upper end, a supporting plate apertnred to receive the portion of the stud above the head and bearing on the head and attached thereto, said plate adapted to support a platform member.

3. A device of the class described including a bracket adapted to be attached to a support and having a sleeve at the other end, a stud movably engaging in said sleeve and having alateral head spaced from the upper end, and a supporting plate apertured to receive the portion of the stud above the head and bearing on the head and attached thereto, said plate adapted to support a platform member.
