To all 'whom t may concern y -Be it known that I, EULA A. Mosman, a citizen of the United States, residing at ifillegany, in the county of Cattaraugus'and' State .of New York, have invented certain new and useful Iniproveinents in` Griddle Greasers, of which the following is a speciiication. i

This invention relates to a griddle greaser, and particularly to a construction embodying a reservoir containing a supply of material in comn'ninication with an absorbent or 1 greased.

The present invention avoids these difficulties by a very simple construction in which the body and handle of the greaser are formed as a unit andr provided With a longitudinal passage extending completely therethrough which provides a reservoir enclosed at the body end of the greaser byv a pcrvious fabric covering and at the handle end thereof by an insertible plug adapted to provide a pressure upon the grease to facilitate its feed by gravity to the opposite `end of the reservoir.

.A further object of the invention is to provide a construction which can be readily and quickly manufactured by"` machinery designed for the purpose, and comprises a `body portion having straight side walls terminating in a seating groove and overhanging flange, together with fabric coverings engagingsaid straight walls and secured in position by aband forced over thcv covering which, owing to its gathered condition, tightly retains the band-in position. y

Other and further objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter set forth and the novel features thereof defined by the appendedclaim.

The body andhandhold are formed as a f unit, preferably integraland provided with a central passage 15 extending completely therethrough and forming a reservoir to receive the grease. The lowerend yof this reservoir is open as at 16 and covered by several layers of absorbentor pervious material `17, usuallya fabric which is secured in positionby the band18 embracingther fabric and forcing y thev same into contact with the straight fwall 11 of the base. The overhanging portion 13 of thel baseyisengaged by the band 1S and encloses the edges of the perviouscovering soas to completely conceal the saine while any excess of material is forced into the seating groove, thus providingV a neat and convenient nish. The construction permitsthe ready application and removal of the covering as it becomes soiledor worn, as it is only necessary to withdraw the band in order to change theV fabric greasing face which is tightly held in beneath the band. This `fabric covering may if desired be out in disk form and may be supplied with the implement so as to render the change convenient to the user.

In this form of the invention only the outer layer of the pervieus fabric is shown assecured,r While the inner layers SO kthereof extend only across the bottom of the greaser and become saturated with the grease automatically fed from the reservoir, The upper end of the reservoir is provided-With a plug 31 similar in character to the plug 19 before described.

The body of the device is preferably formed of Wood Which-has been previously treated to render `it nonabsorbent to grease or similar material, and being non-conductive to heat may be always comfortably handled `and retains the body` of the grease in solid form, liquefying only the portion in Contact with the fabric. This insures a limited and regular feed of the grease -Whi'ch cannot be secured with a metal body as the latter conducts sufficient heat toliquefy the entire body or grease and causes'an excess feed thereof to the griddle producing objectionable smoke and odor.

The operation of the invention will be apparent from the foregoing description from which it Will be seen 'that a continuous feed of grease or suitable lubricant may at all times be fed to the fabric surface for applying the same and this surface is readily replaceable when necessary from Wear or soiling, While the plug for the reservoir lforms and held by a band which may be conven-` iently'` forced in position but if this member be lost or misplaced the seating groove can be used 'to attach the fabric covering by means of a tie, as shown in the modified form in Figure `3.

Vhile the specific form and construction of the parts have been shown andv described, the invention is not directly confined there to, as the configuration may be changed and alterations made Without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: f'

A griddle greasing device comprising 1. circular solid boc y having a peripheral securing face and merging into a central vertically disposed tubular handle provided with a closure plug at its upper end and forming a reservoir surrounded by the extended concentric base of the body to provide a pressure face, an absorbent covering for said base, and securing means for retaining said cove-ring in Contact with the securing face. p
