UNION SUIT.
. Application fled 1mm 11,1923. Serial No. 025,815.
To all whom it may comeqn:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. Gonsnmn, a citizen of the'United States, residing at Hot Springs National Park, in the county of -Garland and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Union Suits, of whichthef ollowingdis-a specification.
y invention relates to an improvement in union suits for men, women and children.
' The object is to provide an article as 'the name implies, of such construction that it gives I without severe. strain which ordinarily results in pulling of buttons or tearing ofi button holes if not actually ripping or tearing the garment.
This invention includes a a dro seat, the upper edge of which is support adjusted, eld in position and. fastened by bands that go around the waist and button in front, thus givin the garment plenty .of play without bin in upon the body, inother words, automatica 1y ad- :6 justing' itself to the body.
In the accompanying drawings, 1
Fig. 1 is a view in perspective, and
Figs. 2 and 3 are details.
A represents a ends of the side slits 2 approximately to the region of the waist-line somewhat overlap-. ping the lower edge 3 of the back 4 of the garment, with a binding 36 upper edge of the drop seat.
Bands and preferably double bands 6 and 7 extend from opposite ends of this binding 5 through loops 8 at the side seams of the garment through which they have loose 'ding movement giving play and freedom of action and they terminate in pads 9 and '10, one'o of which three are readily withthe bending of the bodygarment having garment and 1 the drop 0 seat, the.- latter extending from the lower 5 preferably at the which is provided with a button 11 and the other with several button holes 12 shown wherebyto adjust it the size of the waist and easily secure the ends of the bands detachably together.
By the double hands a sto is formed to prevent the bands from pulli out when the drop seat is lowered as mig t otherwise happen, especially where the bands do not have to be very long for either a ehild or a slender person.
This leaves a smooth buttonless drop seat ,easily raised or lowered and which can be drawn about the .waist just as tight as required and a single button at the front holds it in place in cooperation with the loops and the double straps slidable therethrough. v In this way the garment adjusts itself automatically to the movements of the body and in 'stooping down the sidepieces allow plenty of play so that there isno strain on the garment as there usually is on garments that are now on the market.
The garment is easily made, is of few parts and is comfortable to wear and easy and simple-to operate and adjust,'and inthis form obviates in a simple way uliar garments of this general type hit erto in use.
I claim: g An undergarment having a dro seat, double loops fastened to the sides of t e garment, and double bands extending from the upper portion of the drop seat slidably through the loops to the front of the garment, the front free ends of the bands bein connected by pads which carry means f r fastening the two double bands together, said pads also serving as stops for preventing the bands froming pulled entirely a through the double loops. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JOHN W. GODBEHERE,
