T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES W. DUNN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Chair Swing, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to chair or porch swings and more particularly to foot rests therefor.

The object of the invention is to provide a swinging chair having a simple and efficient foot rest which greatly increases the comfort of the chair. It is well known that in the ordinary porch swing no foot rest is provided and the user sits with his legs pendant which after awhile becomes very uncomfortable.

\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The chair embodying this invention may 5 be of any desired or ordinary construction as shown at 1 having the usual seat 2 and hinged at 3 suspended by rods 4 on hangers The rods 4: are here shown provided with coiled springs 6 to permit the chair to yield vertically. usual or ordinary construction and form no part of the invention.

The invention comprises a foot rest 10 which includes a cross bar 11 secured by metal straps 12 to the front edge of the lower face of the seat 2 and by longer straps 13 to the rear portion of seat 2 as is shown clearly in Fig. 1. The straps 12 are shown secured to the upper face of the cross bar 11 while straps 13 engage the lower face thereof and thus form a bracing bar which is designed to receive and form a support for the feet of the user of the swing.

A foot rest constructed as herein shown and described is very simple and cheap and yet greatly increases the comfort of the chair or swing in connection with which it is in use.

I claim The combination with a swinging chair having pairs of metal braces, one pair being secured at one end to the front and the other pair to the rear portions of the seat thereof and extended forwardly and downwardly at an oblique angle, the front pair of braces being superposed relative to the rear pair, and a cross bar arranged between the front ends of said pairs of braces and secured thereto.
