UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SEMELE SHORT, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOUNDS FOR CLEANING PAINTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,697, dated June 30, 1874; application filled May 28, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SEMELE Snom, of Oineinnati, Hamilton county,0hio,have invented a new and useful Detergent or Cleansing Oompound, of which the following is a specification.
I take, by weight, as follows: Bicarbonate of soda, three parts; fine granulated or pulverized lump-sugar, one part; all reduced to imipalpable powder and thoroughly blended. 'I first remove any loose dirt by duster or otherwise, and in using my detergent I dust the ame, by means of a dredge-box, upon a piece t sponge or rag, wetted, and rub the door, Wainscot, mantelpiece, or other painted article mtolegeansed. The surface thus treated is then wiped off with a wet sponge, and the work is accomplished without any splashing,
or necessity of removing furniture or carpets,
and almost Without labor, and leaving a fine gloss on the surface.
