Description

NQV. 11, 1924- A. J. DUBEE ANCHORING DEVICE Filed July 29, 1922 Patented Nov. 11, 1924.
unrraa s'rarss AnELAnn JOSEPH DUBEE, or stem FALLS, NEW YORK.
ANCHORING DEVICE.
Application filedJuly 29, 1922. Serial No. 578,379.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AnnLAnD J. DUBEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glens Falls, in the county of Warren and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Anchoring Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to anchoring devices and more particularly to an anchor for door and window frames for use in building construction.
The primary object of this invention is the provision of a means whereby door and window frames may be securely anchored in their proper position with respect to the walls of a building and will be held in such position, thereby preventing said frames from sagging or pulling away from the walls.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a strip attachable to the side of a door or window frame, said strip having corrugations or sockets for receiving detachable anchoring members, said anchoring members adapted to be imbedded in the wall of a building.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device which is easily and quickly attached and cheap of manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention resides in the detail construction, combination and arrangement of parts, the essential features of which are more fully described in the following specification and claims and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my device upon a portion of a door or window frame.
Figure 2 is a detail vertical sectional view showing a door or window frame anchored in the wall of a building.
Figure 3 is a detail View of the anchor member.
Figures at and 5 are slightly modified forms of plates.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the reference character A designates a portion of a door or window frame to which my invention is shown applied. My invention comprises a plate 5 of any desired length and may extend along the entire side of the frame A. In the present instance there has been shown a short plate and it is to be understood that any number of these plates may be attached to the frame. The
plates 5 are formed with a plurality of corrugations 6 adapted to receive anchor members 7 about to be described. Attaching means 8 in the nature of screws are shown for securing the plate to the frame.
The anchor members 7 comprise a piece of heavy wire or rod bent so as to form fingers 9 and 10, said fingers 9 and 10 being disposed at right angles to each other. The finger 9 is adapted to be inserted in any of the corrugations 6, the portion 11 of the anchor member lyingflat against the face ofthe frame A as shown in Figure 1 before the frame is anchored in place in the window opening of a building. When the device is anchored in the concrete, brick tile or other material of which the building is constructed, as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings, the anchor members 7 are turned to a position at right angles to the position shown in Figure 1. It will be seen by reference to Figure 1 that there has been shown what I term a right hand anchor member and a left hand anchor member, this being necessary for inserting the members in opposite sides of the plate 5.
In Figures 4 and 5 there is shown a slightly modified form of socket for receiving the anchor members. In Figure 4 the plate 5 is formed with a plurality of eyes 12, and in Figure 5 the eyes 13 are pressed out of the plate 5.
Having described what I consider to be the preferred form of my invention, I wish it to be understood that changes alterations and modifications as come within the claims may be resorted to when so desired.
hat is claimed as new is 1. In a device of the class described, the combination with a door or window frame, a plate secured thereto, a plurality of corrugations formed in said plate and co-acting with the door or window frame so as to form sockets, and an anchor member having a portion thereof inserted in said socket and another portion extending at right angle to said frame and into a building structure.
2. A device of the class described comprising a plate adapted to be attached to a door or window frame or the like, said plate having a plurality of corrugations which coact with the window frame to form sockets for prising a plate adapted to be attached to a door or Window frame or the like, said plate having a plurality of corrugations or sockets for receiving a detachable anchor member, said anchor member comprising a rod or Wire bent to form fingers, said fingers being disposed at right angles to each other, one of said fiiwers adapted to be inserted in a socket of sald plate and the other of said fingers adapted to be anchored in the Wall of a building.
4. In a device of the class described the combination with the door or Windowframe, aplate secured thereto and provided with a plurality of corrugations, said corrugations being open at both ends and c0-acting with the frame so as to define sockets, and anchor members insertable in either end of said sockets.
