UNITED sTATEs PATENT OFFICE.
HOWARD GRATZ BROWER, OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, ASSIGNOR 0F ONE-HAL T0 PORTER WARNER, OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE.
SOAP AND WATER MIXER.
Application led August 7, 1923. Serial No. 656,230.
T 0 all 'whom it may concern.:
Be it known that HOWARD GRATZ BROWER, citizen of the United States, residing at Chattanooga, in the county of Hamilton and State of Tennessee, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap and Water Mixers, of which the following is a specification.
This inventionrelates to certain'new and useful improvements in a soap and water mixer and has for its principal object the provision of a mixer whereby a predetermined amount of soap may be used to cause the proper mixture for a solution of soap and water.
A further object of this invention is to provide a soap and water mixer whereby a solution of water will be caused to pass through a container of soap and dispense therefrom thoroughly mixed.
Another object of the invention is to pro- -vide a soap and water mixer capable of be- .ing used in various places where a solution of soapy water is desired.
Further objects and advantages of my invention will appear from the more/detailed description set forth below, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim. 4
Inthe drawing,- Figure 1 isan elevational view of my improved soap and water mixer as made in accordance with' this invention, showing it assembled and ready for use,
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the soap and water mixer dlsconnected from the water supply source,-
Figure 3 is an elevatlonal view partlyin section showing the relative position of the soa container with the water container,
igure 4 is a side elevational view of the soap container, and,
Figure 5 is a fragmentary, elevational view illustrating a hose connection at the outlet end of the container.
Referring more particularly to the draw.- ing,'the soap and water mixer in its referred formv includes a lcylindrical bo y 5 having one end substantially funnel-shaped as at 6, and equipped to receive a hose or other (pipe connections as at 7. The funnelshape end 6 constitutes an outlet for the water in the container- 5 and the opposite end: of .this container is provided with an annular exterior flange 8, to `which is re- -soapsolution prior to movably 'secured a funnel-shaped head member 9, the head member 9 being removably v secured to the annular flange 8 of the container 5 by suitable fastening means 10.
The fasteningl members 10 shown on the drawing, are in the form of .a wing nut and bolt but any preferable fastening means can be used. But as shown in the drawing, the bolts are permanently secured to the liange 8 and the head 9 is equipped with laterally extending diametrically opposed lugs 11, which embrace the bolts of the flange 8 and Iare held thereon by the wing nuts 12.
The central portion of the head 9 is provided with a threaded connection 13, which is detachably secured to a water supplysource 14 which is controlled by a valve 15. The valve 15 controls the inlet ofwater from the pipe 14 through the head 9 'into the container 5. y
A reticulated cylinder 16 of a diameter smaller than the interior diameter of the l vportl the cylinder'16-within the container 5 in such a position vthat the water entering A through the head 9 will first pass through the reticulated cylinder 16 mixing with the funnel-shaped end 6.
The brackets 18 engage the container 5 at the point of juncture with the funnel-shaped end 6 so as to relatively support the cylinder 16 in its proper position within the container .5 and consequently hold this reticulated cylinder against lateral movement in any direction.
It is to be understood that' a hose20 can be detachably secured to the connection 7 of the funnel-shaped end 6 of the container 5 so as to permit the water and soap solution of the container to be sprayed at any desired point.
passing out ofthe lt is apparent that have provided a compact, inexpensive and convenient soap sindl ltfis further obvious that the mixture set yforth is not limited in its application to soap and water mixtures only, but it canhe used for making variousv solutions or emulsions of any desiredsubstance in water or another solvent or vehicle. y
Having thus described my invention? what l claim es new is: I
A soap Water miner comprising n cylindrical container .heaving a nnneishaped outlet end, a removable head having a water connection for'the opposite end oi said container, means to removably connect the head to said container, a reticulated soap .cylinder having `one end closed, supporting brackets secured to said closed end, a flange at the opposite end of Said reticulated cylinder, said flange interposed loe-` tween said head and open end of the container, said brackets engaging the container at its point of juncture with the funnelshaped outward end9 said brackets and ange positioning the reticulated soap cylinder in spaced relation within the container.
