M, v. SULLIVAN TOILET l SEAT QQVER DEVICE Filed Feb. e, 192s IN VEN TOR.
lfd/7,
A TTORNEYS Patented May ZG, i924.
PATENT OFFICE,
MAYE V. SULLIVAN, OF MITCHELL, SOUTH DAKOTA.
TOILET-SEAT-CQVER DEVICE.
Application filed February 6, 1923. Serial No. 617,263.
T (117, vii/10m it muy concern:
Be it known that I, MATE V. SULLIVAN, citizen of the United States, residing at Mitchell, in the county of Davison and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Toilet-Seat- Cover Device, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanyingr drawings.
This invention relates to a toilet seat cover device, and the object of the invention is the construction of a comparatively simple 'and efficient device used in connection with a toilet seat.
Another object of the invention is the construction of an efficient toilet seat device which can be easily shipped or transported,
quickly suspended upon a support or wall, and from which a sheet, or sheets, can be quickly torn or removed and placed in position upon the toilet seat.
With these and other objects in view, my invention comprises certain novel combinations. constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter described, il-
lustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective vicwof my device as it appears in actual use.
Figure 2- is a perspective view of the device in a rolled condition, as when being transported or handled in storing or packing.
Figure 8 is a perspective view of the de-v vice, with the front sheet lifted.
Figure 4 is a greatly enlarged, fragmentary, sectional view of the device.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, l designates the front cover sheet, and 2 is the back cover sheet. Secured against the inner face of the front cover sheet 1 is a front binding strip 3, which strip 3 is also secured against the outer face ofthe front stiffening strip 4t. A back binding strip 5 is secured against the outside of the front cover sheet 1 (Fig. 4) and is also secured against the outer face of the back stiffening strip 6, as well as the outer face of the ,back cover sheet 2. Between the upper edge of the back cover strip 2 and stiffening strips 4 and 5, I place a large number of seat sheets 7; these sheets 7 are held in positive position with the other parts of the device by lines 8 of stitching. The diHerent parts are also held together by suitable adhesive material.
Sheets 7 are preferably formed of tissue paper and are each provided with a large aperture or opening, as shown in Fig. 3.
The device can be easily suspended upon a nail 9 (Fig. l) and from time to time the thin sheets 7 can be torn off on a line of perforation l0, Fig. 4. as needed.
The device is very-efficient and the sheets are excellent for sanitary purposes.
While I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention, and have illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates, during the extensive manufacture of the same and I, therefore, reserve the right to make such alterations or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is: y.
l. In a device of the class described, the combination of a front and a rear cover sheet. a back binding strip secured against said back cover sheet and said front cover sheet, a back stiffening strip against said rear cover-sheet, said back binding strip also secured over said back stiifening strip, a plurality of seat sheets positioned against the inner face of said back cover sheet, a front stiifening strip secured. against said seat sheets, and a front binding strip secured against the front of said front stiftening strip and also against the inner face of the front cover sheet, substantiallyas shown and described. y
2. In a device ofthe class described, the combination with a front and a back cover sheet, a plurality of seat sheets between said front and back cover sheets, stiffening strips contiguous to said seat sheets, and binding strips fastening. said cover s'heets, rseat sheets and stiifening strips together.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
' MAYE V. SULLIVAN.
