STORE ARRANGEMENT.

Be it known that I, BENJAMIN H. JEF- rrrsorr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Niles, in the county of Berrien and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Store Arrangements, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to store arrangements, and has for its object to provide a store arrangement wherein a passage to one side of the store may be easily and quickl formed, which passage communicates wit a room at the rear of the store, which is also formed in the same manner as the passage, and preferably by vertically slidable glazed sash, thereby allowing goods on display within the main portion of the store to be easily observed by persons passing through the passage to the room in the back of the store. The arrangement is particularly adapted for use in connection with music stores wherein the entire floor Space is used for display purposes during the day, and a concert hall or room is desired for use at night or other times, at which time the goods on display to the outside of the partition are moved into the main portion of the store, and the sash lowered to form the passage way to one side of the store leading to the concert room in the rear of the store.

A further object is to provide a store with an L-shaped partition, thereby forming an entrance passage or hallway to one side of the store in communication with a room at the rear of the store, and to provide said partition with slidable sash whereby said store may be thrown into a single room if so desired during business hours, and utilized as a concert hall at other times with the goods within the main portion of the store plainly visible to persons entering the concert hall and during the course of the concert.

A further object is to form the partitions from a plurality of spaced vertically disposed members or posts, between which posts glazed sash are slidably mounted. The sash are provided with means whereby when one sash is pulled downwardly towards closed position, 'other sash between the same posts are engaged and pulled downwardly by the moved sash.

With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawing Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional View through a store showing the partition there in, and the entire floor open for displaying goods in the ordinary course of business.

Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure l, showing the store arranged for concert purposes.

Figure 3 is a view in elevation of a portion of the partition, showing the glazed sash therein.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral l designates a store, which is preferably rectangular shaped as shown and 2 the interior thereof. The arrangement hereinafter set forth is particularly adapted for use in connection with music stores, however it is to be understood that it may be used in connection with other kinds of stores if desired. Many music. stores from time to time feature concerts by artists for educational and business purposes, and allow the use of the stores for meeting purposes, however where concerts are. given it requires a. great deal of labor to properly arrange 1 the store and to prevent damage to goods on display, particularly pianos. At the same time it is desirable for all persons attending the concerts to be able to see the various musical instruments, for instance, pianos, graphophones and the like while attending the concert. To accomplish this result an L-shaped partition 3 is disposed within the interior 2 of the store, which L- shaped partition forms an elongated passage 4 at one side of the store, and a concert room 5 at the rear of the store. Persons entering the concert room 5, enter through the door 6, then pass through the passage 4 to the concert room and occupy the seats 7, which may be of any character, for instance chairs, which may be easily removed and stored. Freni the above it will be seen a store arrangement is provided wherein a store may be easily and quickly converted into a concert hall at 'the rear or the store with an entrance passage at the side of the store, and that goods within the niain portion o't the store will. be on display at all times and vi 'ble to persons passing through the passage and into the concert rooin.

The invention having been set forth what is claiined as new and'use'tul is l.
