H. LIEDTKE MEDICAL SERVICE CABINET Filed Aug. 9, 1923 Jan. 1, 1924 Patented Jan. i, 1924.
star-as NET MEDICAL SERVIQ-E .QABINET.
Application filed August 9, 1,823.
T 0 all whom it may-concern.
Be it known that I, Honsr L nn'rnn, a citizen of Germany, and resident of Berlin- Schoneberg, Germany, have invented cer ain new and useful Improvements in, Medical Service Cabinets, of which the following isa specification.
My invention relates, to improvements in cases for medicines, binding material, and similar matter to be used for giving first medical attendance in cases of accidents, and the object of the improvements is to provide a case of this kind in which the medicines and other-matter are readily accessible after unlocking the door, Another object is to provide a case which is equipped with a folding table and a folding roof permitting a surgeon or other attendant to select and prepare binding material and the like with-- out being troubled by bad weather. Other objects of the improvements will appear from the following description.
For the purpose of explaining the invention an example embodying the same has been shown in the accompanying drawings, in which the same reference characters have been used in all the views to indicate corresponding parts. In said drawings,
Fig. 1, is an elevation showing the case open,
Fig. 2, is a similar elevation showing the case half open,
Fig. 3, is a detail sectional view showing parts of one of the door wings and the table,
Fig. 4, is an elevation seen from the left in Fig. l and showing the door open.
In the example shown in the drawings, my improved case 17 is provided with two doors 18 adapted to be secured by a lock 19 comprising one or more latch bolts (not shown), connected to a rotary member 21. By turning the arm 32 and the member 21 the door may be unlocked.
WVithin the case a folding table 22 is hinged at 22, and the hinge pintles are disposed a short distance away from the doors 18, so that the table bears (in the closed position of the case) on the doors and tends to open the same. At its ends, the table 22 carries rollers 29 which are adapted to "ide on curved guideways 28 provided on the doors 18, as is best shown in Fig. 3. At their lower ends, the said guideways provide a horizontal support 28 for holding the Serial No. 655,473.
table in horizontal P0sition, and the. inner ends of the guideways arev bent upwardly to prov d fi g 0 a pt t engag in cu out portions 31 of the table 22. Thereby the d r s e locked; in. he op n pos i s. a a reliablesupport is insured for the table. Above the doors 18, a roof 2% preferabl-yof canvas is secured to the case. The sides of the roof are attached tov the upper part of the doors. When the doors are. closed the root is f d d. nw dly, nd. whe op n g the doors, the roof; stretched outwardly, shown in E s- 2- o. the up pa ts of the doors, arms 26 are secured, which carry ie l 2. a apt o. eng ge m 25 hi g to the case at 25. Yilhen opening the doors, he r 1lers27 r de below e. h nged: a m 25 which now lift the roof 24 so as to stretch the latter, as shown in Fig. 1.
From the foregoing description of the parts, it will be understood that both doors are simultaneously opened by the table 22, and when the doors are in open position, they provide the side walls of a chamber which is covered by the roof 241, so that the medicines and binding material, placed on the table 22 are protected against bad weather.
For closing the case, the table 22 is lifted, whereupon the roof is folded and the arms 26 and the rollers 27 release the arms 25.
In the example shown in the drawings various boxes 37 and a stretcher 36 are arranged within the case 17.
For placing the stretcher into the case, sleeves 38 are hinged at 39 to the shelf 40 of the case, and these sleeves provide shoes or sockets to receive the handles at one end of the stretcher. To the sleeves springs 41 areattached, and these sleeves are connected also to the rear wall of the'case.
lVhen out of use, the stretcher is kept within the case with its lower handles supported within the sleeves In order to remove the stretcher, said stretcher is turned downwardly and into horizontal position, in which position the sleeves 38 may be locked against the action of the springs 41 by any suitable means (not shown).
' From the foregoing, it is believed that theconstruction, operation and advantages of the invention may be readily understood by those skilled in the art, and it is apparent that various changes may be made in the details disclosed Without departing from the spirit of the invention as expressed in the claims.
I claim:
1. A medical service cabinet comprising a case having oppositely swinging hinged doors movable about vertical axes, means for locking said doors in closed position, and a gravity actuated table hinged Within the case and arranged to engage and open the doors when the latter are unlocked.
2. An apparatus of the class described, comprising a case having a hinged door, a table hinged Within the case, having a cut out portion and arranged to open the door When the latter is unlocked, a roller on said table, and a guide member secured to said door in position for engagement by said roller and formed at its end With a locking member adapted to engage said out out portion and hold the door in open position.
3. An apparatus of the class described, comprising a case having oppositely swinging hinged doors, a table hinged Within the case and arranged to open the doors When the latter are unlocked, and a folding root secured to the case and the upper part of the doors, and adapted to be stretched into open position When the table actuates to open said doors.
4. An apparatus of the class described comprising a case having a hinged door, a table hinged Within the case and arranged to open the door When the latter is unlocked, a folding roof secured to the case and the upper part of the door, an arm hinged to the case in position for lifting the roof, and a member on said door in position for lifting said arm when opening the door.
A. medical service cabinet comprising a case having oppositely swinging doors movable about vertical axes, a table hingedly mounted Within the case and adapted to swing in a vertical plane and open the doors when the latter are unlocked, and a roof secured to the case and to the upper portions of the doors and adapted to be stretched into open position over said table When the latter swings to open the doors.
In testimony Whereoi I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of Witnesses.
HORST LIEDTKE.
