H. M. MATHIESON SCORE INDICATING DEVICE FOR GAMES Filed' June 22 1922 Patented July 10, 1923.
UNITED STATES HUGH M. MATHIESON, 01E GLASGGVV'. SCOTLAND.
SCORE-INDICATING DEVIQE FOR GAIiIES.
Application filed June 22,
T 0 all whomz't may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGH MILLER MATHIE- SON, a subject of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. and residing at Glasgow, Scotland, have invented a certain new and useful Improve ment in Score-Indicating Devices for Games, of which the following is a. specifi cation.
This invention relates to score indicating devices for games including a figured dial and slotted pointing means rotatably mounted on said dial adapted to be brought into register with figures printed thereon.
According to the invention the pointing means comprises arms of resilient material pivotally attached to and embracing the dial the outer ends of the pointer being hingedly connected and presenting finger grips associated with a spring compressible by hand and normally acting to maintain the inner surfaces of the arms in frictional engagement with the dial.
In the accompanying}; drawing 1 plane of one form. Fig. 2 an elevation of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 a section on the line A A of Fig. 1 showing the fingers depressed. 4 is a plan of a second form and Fig. 5 a plan of a third form.
The score indicating device comprises a dial 1 whereon are rotatably mounted a pointer2 or as in Fig. 4 pointers 2, 2. Each pointer is provided with a slot or slots (Fig. 5) ar ranged. opposite a row of figures (Figs. 1 to 4) or rows of figures (Fig. 5) and adapt ed to register one at a time with a figure on the row or each row and each pointer is 1922. Serial No. 570,134.
provided with means for clamping the pointer or pointers to the dial 1.
Each pointer comprises two arms or resilient material pivotally attached at 3 to arranged in juxtaposed relationship the dial 1. The outer ends of the pointers are lIlIlfTGClly connected at 4 and are pro vided with finger grips 5 associated with a spring 6 normally acting to maintain the inner surfaces of the arms in Frictional cngagemcnt with the dial 1. The arrange ment is such that. when the finger grins 5 are depressed, the pointer may be nievcd over the dial until the slot or slots rec" or register with the selected figure wl upon the finger grips are released and the pointer is held frictional]; in adjusted position.
I claim:-
A score indicating device comprising a figured dial, slotted pointing means otatably mounted on said dial, said pointing means comprising resilient arms einbi.-cing said dial, said arms hingedly connected at their outer ends and presenting finger grips and a spring compressible by actuation oi the grips. said spring normally ac;- ing to maintain the inner faces of said arms in frictional engagement with said dial.
In testimon whereof I. have signed my name to this specification in the presence of? two subscribing; witnesses.
i-l. Mr T'QTFFWWI. Vitnesses KATE Forrrnnrnsrimi.
ANNE L. WATT.
