Description

J. W. RUDOLPH.
WEIGHERS RAPID WEIGHT STAMPER.
APPLICATION FILED APR.30. 1921.
1,382,015. PatentedJune 21, 1921.
IN VEN TOR,
' the city of Da ton, in the'county' of JAMES W. RUDOLPH, 0F DAYTON, OHIO.
WEIGHERS RAPID wmenr-s'mmrnn- To-allwkomitmayconcem:
-Be it known that I, JAMES W. RUDOLPH, a citizen of the United States, residin in ontgomery and tate of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in. Wei hers Rapid Weight- Stampers, of which the ollowing is a specification.
The principal object of my invention is to provide for. weighers in biscuit-making,
cake-making and other establishments, a rapid weight stamper by which boxes and cans may be quickl and efiiciently stamped by a less number 0 employees than are now required for that purpose. The stamper can be easily attached to the back of the fingers and the wrist, to permit any one of a series of rubber stamps to be instantly brought to a position by a bending movement of a finger or the back of the hand to stamp any weight desired on a box, can or other object.
Other important and incidental objects will be brought out in the following speci fication and particularly set forth in the subjoined claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of the rear portion of the fingers and wrist of a human hand, showing how my rapid Weight stamper is applied thereto. And Fig. 2 is a side view of that hand, showing how one of the rubber stamps is brought to a weight stamping position by the bending movement of. a finger.-
Throughout the specification and drawings, similar reference characters denote corresponding parts.
Referrin to the accompanying drawings for a detai ed description of the preferred form of embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates thewrist of a human hand over which is slipped a cufl 2 from which there project forwardly strips 3 that terminate at their outer ends in thimble por tions 4. The latter are adapted to be slipped over the tips of the fingers, so that the strips 3 may run from said thimble portions 4 to the cuff 2 over the back parts of the fingers and wrist, leaving the palm of the hand bare. The entire Stamper preferably consists of one piece of rubber, and may be quickl and easily applied to the hand in a gloveike manner.
There are preferably four of these strips Specification of Letters Patent. Patented J 1 21, 1921, Application filed April 30, 1921. Serial No. 465,738. I i
3, one for each finger, and to the back porion of each strip there is glued, or otherwise suitably secured, a series of rubber stamps 5. There are seven of these stamps attached to each strip, although a greater or a less number may be provided without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The first four stamps 5 on the strip 3 eontainthe fol-- lowlng respective designations:
the first four stamps on the fourth strip 3 are I 9, 9 9% and 9%.? Below the first four stamps on the strips 3, the numbers run crosswise in the following pro ression, 10, 11, 11%, etc., upto 15%? While I have illustrated the stamps 5 as containing the above numbers below the designation NT- T, any other numbers and designations may be employed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
To stamp any one of the above designations of net weight upon a can or box, the finger holding the particular stamp 5 to be used for that purpose, is. bentas shown in Fig. 2 to force that stamp, which is designated as A in that figure, against the surface 6 to leave its impression there. Weigh-,
ers can acquire such great skill in the use of my rapid weight stamper, that they can stamp the correct weights upon boxes and cans with great speed and a minimum of effort. In a short time the locations of the stamps to be used become as familiar to them, as the keys on a typewriter become familiar to an eflicient operator of that machine.
Having described my invention, I claim: 1. A device of the type described comprising a cuff adapted to he slipped over the' 'wrist of a human hand, and stamping means attachable to the back portions of the fingers of said hand, projecting forwardly from said cuff for the purpose specified.
2. A device of the type described comprising a cufi' adapted to he slipped over the wrist of a human hand, strips pro 'ecting forwardly along the back portions 0 the fingers specified.
3. A device of the type described cornprising a cuff adapted to be slipped over the wrist of a human hand, strips projecting forwardly along the back portions of the fingers of said hand, a, thimble portion on the front end of each strip to be applied to the tip of its respective fin 'er, and a series 10 of stamps attached to the ack portion of each strip, for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of April, 1921.
JAMES W. RUDOLPH.
