Description

May 8, 1923. I 1,454,607 I A. VARAUD COLLAR ATTACHMENT Original Filed March 31 1921 Patented May 8, 1923.
f QFFEQEEQ COLLAR ATTACHIEENT.
Application filed March 31, 1921, Serial No. 457,454. Renewed October 14, 1822. Serial No. 59 1 659.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDRE VARAUD, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at La-Capite-Vesenaz, near Geneva, in the Confederation of Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar Attachments, (for which I have filed applications in Switzerland. June 28, 191?, February 27, 1919; in France June 30, 1919; and in Italy July 9, 1919), of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention the provision of a device serving to limit the corners at the adjacent front edges of a non-starched or soft collar and to maintain them in this position, said device comprising a wire bent in such a manner as to constitute a spring having two bent shanks each provided with a button at its extremity adapted to engage with a button-hole in one of the corners of the collar.
In the drawing:
Fig, 1 is a front elevation illustrating one form of my improved collar attachment.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation similar to Fig. 1 showing another form of the invention, and
Fig. 4 is a similar view showing a third form of the invention.
In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the device comprises a metal wire, having a bow a which constitutes a spring and two shanks b and 0 bent at b and 0 and each provided at its extremity with a button (Z, adapted to engage with a button-hole of the collar corners. The whole device constitutes a spring tending to cause the buttons (l to approach one another in the direction indicated by the arrows in Fig. 1.
By reference to Fig.3, it will be seen that the shanks Z) and 0 and the spring loop a may be so formed that the shanks cross each other and the spring loop or bow a extends inwardly toward the crossing position of the shanks, or as shown in Fig. l, the shanks Z) and 0 may terminate in a circular portion a, a continuation of which forms the spring loop or how a which extends across the shanks Z2 and c at points somewhat nearer the circular ends a than the buttons 65, it being understood that in this form of the invention the resiliency of the device is 'nrther increased by the formation of the circular portions a.
I claim as my invention:
1. A collar attachment comprising buttons, shanks connected to and extending from the said buttons and bent at their upper ends so as to extend toward the said buttons in a loop or how which lies across the said shanks and acts to yieldingly maintain the buttons in position in a collar.
2.'A collar attachment comprising buttons, shanks extending from the said buttons and bent at their upper ends so as to extend in a direction toward the said buttons and to form a loop at approximately the line or position of the said buttons to yieldingly maintain the buttons in position in a collar and to act as a support for the portions of the collar adjacent the front edges thereof.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ANDRE VBrBAUD.
