This invention aims to provide novel means for holding a glass fruit jar whilst the cover is-being threaded thereon, it being a matter of common knowledge that a fruit jar often breaks during the mounting of the cover, the operator being injured if the jar'is held in the hands. I

It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and toenhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains. lVith the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of cpmstruction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention. 1 1

The device forming the'subject matter of this invention includes a bracket comprising a standard 1 having an outwardly project ing fixed jaw 2 and suppliedwith a foot 3 located below the jaw 2, a clamping screw 4 being threaded into the foot 3 and being adapted to cooperate with the fixed'jaw 2.. At its upper end, the standard 1 is supplied with a transverse head5. There'are openings 6 in the head 5, the openings being elongated longitudinally of the head 5.
