To all whom it may concern: I

Be it known that l, HENRY SLAIGER, a

citizen of the United' States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Powder Containers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relatesto certain new and useful improvements in powder containers and pertains more particularly to a com: bined powder container and puff such as are commonly employed for toilet use.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a container in which the closure therefor has a powder puf", which latter can be moved into and out of the closure, so as to be housed within the closure when the latter is in container-closing position and to be projected to lie without the closure when the closure is removed from the container and the puff is to be used as such.

A further object of the invention is to provide a container of this type in which novel means is employed for attaching the puff to the closure, which means also functions to effect movement of the puff into and out of the sleeve, and to assist in holding the closure in container-closing position on the container, and may still further be employed to assist in removing the closure from the container, serving as finger grips in the performance of the last mentioned function.

The invention still further aims to generally improve and simplify and reduce the cost of production of articles of this type and has still further and other objects which will be later set forth and manifested in-the course of the following description.

In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a preferably cylindrical container 1 is employed, which has a suitably closed bottom end 2, and may have an attaching bail 3; for securing the container to a chain or otherwise connecting same.

The closure consists of an outer sleeve 3, which is formed to closely fit within the in terior of the container 4;, formed with a rim 5, which latter is formed to closely fit about the exterior of the I i has a pair of longicontainer. Preferably the ends of the pin have a snug fit with the walls defining the slots 12 so that the pin assists in holding the closure onto the container. When the puff is to be used, the closure is removed, which may be effected grasping the heads '11 of the pin with the fingers, and the pin then moved lengthwise of the sl0t 6 soas to project the ferrule and the puff without the sleeve 3, as depicted in Figure 4. After use of the puff,the pin 10 is again slid'in the slot 6 to move the ferrule and puff to lie within the sleeve 3, whereupon the closure is repositioned onthe container. i v r From the foregoing it will be apparent that the pin 10 acts to'not only secure the puff to'the'sleeve or ferrule 7, but also acts to allow the puff and ferrule to be moved into and out of the sleeve 3, in addition to affording means for securing the closure to and has'an end wall sleeve 7, which forms a fer- I I through opposite 1 sides of the collar through apertures or holes provided therefor, and has its ends enthe container and for providing: finger posed slots extending through its opposite end, a closure for the continer body having); an outer sleeve fitting with n the contai er body and having a rim fitted over the out side of the cor y, a ferrule within the sleeve, a pull having a loop in the ferrule, and a pin having headed ends, the pin being receivable in the slots of the body and extending through the loop and through the for rule and through the slots of the outer sleeve, whereby upon removal of the closure the pin may be moved through the slots of the outer sleeve to project the puff beyond the outer sleeve.

In a powde" container, a container body, a closure therefor having an outer sleeve formed with opposed slots, a 'ierrule slideble in the sleeve, a pull in the ferrule, a pin extending through the ferrule and operating in the slots oi the sleeve and means connecting the pull to the pin, so as to move the putt into and out of the sleeve upon movement of the pin.

3. In a powder container, a container body, a closure for the body having a sleeve slidable wi hin the body, a powder pull having; a ferrule slidable in the sleeve, and combined means to connect the pull to the terrule and for effecting the sliding movements of the latter within the sleeve.

In a powder container, a container body having opposed longitudinal slots, a closure for the body having a sleeve fitting "within the body and having a rim fitting over the exterior of the body, a -ferrule within the sleeve, a pin extending through the ferrule and through theslot-s of the body. a pull in the ferrule, and means to connect the pull to the pin whereby to cause the ferrule and therewith the puff to move. into and out of the sleeve upon sliding oi the pin.

5. In a powder container, a container body, a closure therefor having sleeve engagrcable with the body, a putl receivable in the body, a ferrule carrying the putt and slidable in the sleeve, and means to effect movement at will of the ferrule and pull into and out of the sleeve.
