My Ainvention relates to a remittance reminder, and more particularly to `a paper or cardboard article composed of a plurality of separable yelements forming a unitary structure. 4

In. connection with commercial', church and charitable undertakings, -it is a common :practice to secure .funds in small sums remitted :at certain predetermined intervals. A 'common practice heretofore has been for those engaged in collecting` these small sums 4-to provide a number of separate envelopes or other devices adapted to receive coins, and depend upon the remitter formulating a systematic disposition of suchr envelopes orothercoin receivers, or remembering the idue dates for each envelope or receiver. As

a result Iof this practice regularity in the collection `of indebtednesses or contributions is not assured, and a'system of reminders, distributed at frequent intervals, is frequently adapted to correct this condition as much as possible.

By'my invention, I provide a device which embodies in an lattractive form -a coin receiver, and associated matter which will bring .to the attention of the debtor, donor, contributor or depositor, the fact that a certain sum is due at a certain time, or that this sum has not. yet been paid. The re ceiver being an integral part of the device, it cannot be misplaced or unintentionally destroyed, and the main section -of the device 'is made -bo'th useful and ornamental to ensure its beingvkept by the debtor or donor in a conspicuous place.

The forms which the device may take are manifold, ranging from a single unit for one payment to a series of such units ior Widely vseparated payments.4 The coin re ceiver may consist Vof a single element in each unit, or a plurality of such elementseach to be separately removed at predetermined times as indicated by the associated matter upon the main section of the device.

Reminders made in accordance with my invention are adapted for use in making collections by churches, charitable organito conform to the particular purpose in connection with which the reminder is to be used.

The invention consists in van article of manufacture embodying therein the novel features and characteristics hereinafter set forth and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the form of the invention shown in Figs. l and 2, each unit ofthe device is formed of a heavy sheet of paper stock, such as cardboard and embodying therein a main section and a section separable there- .from adapted to receive andvretain a ccin of :the denomination to satisfy the obligation for which lthe reminder .is issued. ln

this form of the invention, the main section kcomprises an artistically decorated portion a having associated therewith, but separable therefrom along the weakening` line b, an ordinary correspondence card c. The portion a of the main section also has printed or otherwise impressed thereon the days'of a month, thus indicating to the recipient of kvthe reminder that he has a financial obligation to meet that month.

rlhe coin receiver section d is formed integrally with the main section, being separable therefrom along the perforated or otherwise weakened line c' extending across the sheet. rlhis section d has formed therein a coin receiving opening formed by means of slots ,t cutradially from acentrallopening g thus forming a plurality of tongues iz some of which are adapted to pass upon one side of a coin and others of which are adapted to pass upon the other side of the coin and thus retain the coin in the opening. Other means of forming the coin opening may be employed without departing from my invention.

Printed or otherwise impressed upon the coin receiving section is data corresponding with data upon the main section, and means of identification, such as a record number, and lines for the name and address of the remitter.

In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the construction is substantially the same as that shown in Figs. l and 2, the sole difference being that in forming the main section, the corresponding c-ard o is omitted, the only weakened line being that between the coin receiver' section d and the decorated portion a', which line is shown at c. This form of the invention is particularly designed for use in a transaction requiring but a single remittance, and the entire device embraces but a single unit.

ln the modification shownr in Fig. 4, the construction is substantially the same as that shown in Fig. 3, the sole difference being` that the decorated portion a2 has associated and formed integrally therewith a plurality of similar coin receivers cZ2cZ3-cZ`4-- d5 separable from each other and from the main section along the weakened lines c2- cfL-c-CS.

All coin receiving sections, shown in the accompanying drawings are, and may be, identical and a description thereof is not repeated in connection with each modification shown.

The form of the invention shown in Fig. eis particularly designed for use when the number of remittances to meet the obligation represented by the main section are four, as when weekly payments are required. In this form of the invention, the number of coin receiver sections associated with each main section may be two or more as required.

I prefer the form of invention shown in Figs. l and 2 because if desired, the re` mitter has, convenient to his hand, a card upon which any message he may desire to have accompany the remittance, may be indited. Furthermore, if the remittance be sent by mail, this card may be used as a shield for the coin receiver section.

It is apparent that the size of the coin opening may be varied to suit the denomination of the coin to be placed therein.

Having described the invention, what .l claim as new and desire to have protected by Letters Patent, is

A new article of manufacture consisting of a remittance reminder formed of Leases@ heavy paper stock including therein a. main section having 4'suitable matter impressed` thereon, and a coin receiver section formed integrally with said main section, said paper stock having a weakened line extending across it whereby said coin receiver section is separable from said main section, said coin receiver section having an opening therein adapted to receive a coin and means adjacent said opening for retaining a coin therein.

2. A new article of manufacture consisting of a remittance reminder formed of heavy paper stock including therein a main section having suitable matter impressed thereon, and a coin receiver' section formed integrally with said main section, said paper stock having a weakened line extending across it whereby said coin receiver sectioq is separable from said main section and said coin receiver having a plurality of slotsv extending radially from a common centerl whereby a coin opening having tongues adapted to project upon opposite sides thereof to retain a coin therein, is formed.

A new article of manufacture consisting of a remittance reminder formed of heavy paper stock including therein a main section comprising a portion having suitablematter impressed thereon, and a portion separable from said first named portion along a weakened line extending across the paper stock and adapted to have a message indited thereon and a coin receiver section formed integrally with said main section, said paper stock having a weakened line extending across it whereby said coin receiver section is separable from the last named portion of said main section or may be folded thereupon, said coin receiver section having an opening therein adapted to receive a coin and means adj acent said opening for retaining a coin therein.

A new article of manufacture consisting of a remittance reminder formed oit heavy paper stock including therein a main section having suitable matter impressed thereon, and a coin receiver section formed integrally with said main section, said paper stock having a weakened line extending across it whereby said coin receiver section is separable from said main section, said coin receiver section having an opening therein adapted to receive a coin and means adjacent said opening for retaining a coin therein and having impressed therein marks whereby the sender of said receiver check my be identified from the section itself.
