HARRY C. HANSON, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
WALL ATTACHMENT.
aaaosa.
Application filed January '7, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY C. HANSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Wall Attachment, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hat or coat racks, it being the primary object of the invention to provide a hat or coat rack of a novel construction, to permit the same to be readily and easily folded into a position in close proximity to the wall on which the same is supported, thereby moving the same out of the way.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be readily removed from the wall and stored, the bracket forming a part thereof being removable.
With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a rack constructed in accordance with the present invention and showing the same as supported by a wall.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the same.
Figure 3 is a front elevational view thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the base of one section of the bracket or support, and which base provides means whereby the device may be secured to the wall of a room.
This base 5 is provided with a tubular portion 6 stamped from the body portion of the base 5, which tubular portion is designedto accommodate the right angled extremity of the supporting arm 7, which is provided with a bifurcated end 8 adapted to receive the body of the rack.
The body of the rack is formed of the bars 9 which are pivotally connected at their ends as at 10, to permit the frame or body Specification of Letters Patent.

to be folded inwardly into proximity with the wall on which the device is supported, or permit the same to be moved to its extended position as illustrated by Figure 2 of the drawing, where the same may support articles of apparel.
A plurality of hooks 11 are secured to both the upper surfaces and lower surfaces of the bars 9, the hooks being of any conventional construction, but preferably of the double-hook type to permit the maximum number of pieces of apparel to be supported by the device.
Secured to the base 5 are the chains 12 which have their opposite ends secured to the bars 9, and as shown, certain chains are longer than the adjacent chains, so that the same will extend to the outer portion of the body.
Thus it will be seen that the arm 7 is relieved of the direct strain caused by the weight of the articles of apparel supported by the rack, the strain being directed to the chains 12.
An electric fixture 13 also forms a part of the device, and extends to a position directly over the rack to illuminate the same. A mirror indicated at 14: may also be secured to the body portion of the rack, the stem or support of the mirror passing through adjacent ends of bars 9 toprovide the pivot pin for the same.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a device of the character described, a base having a tubular portion formed in tegral therewith, a supporting arm having a right angled extremity, adjustably supported within the tubular portion, a boc y portion including bars pivotally connected at their ends, hooks secured to the bars, supporting chains having connection with the bars, and said supporting chains having their inner ends connected to the base to secure the body portion in a horizontal position.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HARRY C. HANSON.
