APPLlCATiON FILED JUNE 8, 1920.

I ZKWTWLHNI UNITED STATES HARRY WALFRED WALLIN, 0F DES MOINES, IOWA.
GAUGING WRENCH.
Application filed June '8,
To all whom it may concern:
tive position of the platinum points in the breaker disk of a magneto.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claim, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, I
Figure 1 is a plan. View of a conventional breaker disc with the improved gauging implement applied thereto.
Figure 2 is an enlarged perspective View, from beneath, of the improved implement.
The breaker disk of a magneto comprises a base member 10, a stationary block or post 11 to which the conductor is connected and carrying an adjustable contact device 13 including a platinum point 1 1.
Swinging at 15 on the base 10 is the breaker arm 16 in bell crank form and carrying a platinum contact point 17 at one end and a fiber contact 18 at the other end.
A holding spring 19 retains the arm 16 in position upon its pivot, while a spring-20 maintains the arm 16 yield-ably in position to keep the contact points 1 1 and 1.7 in engagement. 7
To insure the proper action the points 14 and 17 must be maintained in proper relations, and great care is required to maintain these parts in their exact relations, and to produce this desirable result the simple im plement which is the subject niatter of the present application has been devised and comprises a stock or body 21 of any desired 7 Specification of Letters Patent.

length, but preferably in wrench form with nut engaging terminals as shown at 22-23 and offset near one end as shown at 24.
Extending from the stock 21, preferably intermediate the ends is a centering post adapted to enter the central opening 26 of the breaker disk, and also extending from the post is a gauge arm 27. L
The arm 27 is so spaced from the post 25 that when the post is disposed in the opening 26, the arm will engage the contact 18 and hold it and the arm 16 same position as it will, occupy when the contact 18 is depressed to break the circuit,
in exactly the or in other words the application of the improved implement will produce the same action of the breaker arm as when in actual operation. Then by inserting a gauge member of a predetermined thickness between the points 14 and 17, the correct open or circuit breaking position of the points may be determined by adjusting the contact 13 through the medium of its adiusting nut in the ordinary manner. I i
The contacts may thus be very quickly and accurately adjusted. i The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed in the drawings and set forth in the specification, but it will be understood that any modifications within the scope of the claim may be made in the construction without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
What I claim is: An implement of the class described comprising a stock having a centering post eX- tending therefrom and a gauge de ice extending from the same side of the stock as the post and in parallel. relation thereto, the
confronting face of the gauge device extending at right of the stock.
In testimony whereof, I aitix my signature hereto.
