This invention generally stated relates to go-carts and has more especial relation to a device of this kindwhich iscollapsible so that when notinuse it may befolded intocompact form so asto be readily carried by the owner in trolley-cars, railroad cars and the like.

The leading object of the present inventionis to provide a device ofth'is character possessed of certain novel features whereby when in use it functions efficiently as a gocart and when properly folded to be carried by the owner is symbolic of a so-called dress-suit case in which may be carried not only the go-cart wheels,- seat, handle and like parts but in which may be carried small parcels as for instance lunches, and childrens wearing apparel. f )ther and further objects of the present invention reside in the provision of certain novelarrangements, connections, and combinations of parts for attaining the results sought by saidleading object.

For the purpose of illustrating my invention I have shown inthe accompanying drawings one form thereofwhich is at present preferred by me, since the same has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of the instrumentalities as herein shown and described.

In practice the lid is so arranged that it may be foldedover upon the box bottom as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 or folded over upon the box top as shown in Fig. 2. For this purpose strap hinges iaving double joints are provided. 1 and 13 designate the hinge-joints and let the hinge-straps. In order to secure the lid to the box in either of the above positions, hinge-joints 15 are secured to the box, connected with which are hinge-strings 16. The latter are each provided with a slot 17 at their free ends. Pivoted to the cover 11 are buttons 18 adapted to co-operatively the slots of the hinge-straps 16. That side of the box provided with the hinge-straps 16 is equipped with a handgrip 19 of any desired form. Interiorly con sidered each end of the box 10 is provided with grooved ways '20 which extend from the bottom to the top of said box. o-operatively engaging these ways are slides 21 journalled to which are the go-cart wheels 22 of which there are two. Since the slides 21 are of duplicate form a description of one will suffice. A slide is of elongated. sub stantially rectangular configuration and is provided at its outer end with stops 23 and at its inner end with trunnions 2d. Adjacent each trunnion the slide is cut away as at 25 to afford clearance whenv the slide is moved from operative position as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, to inoperative position shown in Fig. 2. Section 29 of the handle has hinged thereto a rest to prevent the free end of the handle from contacting with the ground when the go-eart is not being used. In asseinblying the parts as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. the box is inverted and the lid or cover swung over so as to rest upon the bottom of box 10 in inverted position. Located within the-tray-like lid or cover 11, is a rectangular'member 3st. forming a seat and preferably having cushioned relation with the lid. In practice the material-employed is light in weight and the parts may readily and expeditiously assembled and collapsed. Since the device in knock-down position is of the same general shape of a suit-case'it is very convenient forcarriage in trolley and railroad cars, automobiles, steam-boats and the like where space is at a premium.
