WALTER z. MURRAY, or RI HMON VIRGINIA.
nonnnonnnn.
To all'whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WALTER Z. MURRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing'at Richmond, in the county of Henrico and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Roll-Holder, of which the following is a specification This invention relates to roll holders, the primary object of the invention being to provide a device of this character which will secure a roll in a manner to permit the same With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it'being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of-the invention;
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is an elevational view of a .roll holder constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on line 22 of Fig. 1, the spool forming a part of the roll holder being broken away to illustrate the connection between the roll holder and spool.
Fig. 3 is a detail view disclosing the shoulder of the bracket members.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device includes a pair of brackets indicated by the reference character 5, each bracket including a length of metal apertured to receive the securing screw 6, by means of which the same may be secured to a supporting wall or other supporting surface.
The lowerv portion of each bracket is bent upwardly and inwardly as at 7 to'grip the rod 8 of the supporting rod, the connection I Specification of Letters i'atent. Patented NOV. 29, 1921. Application filed July 21, 1921. Serial No. 486,627 3 7 between the gripping portions of the bracket's and the rod Sbeing such as to permit free movement of the supporting'arms withinthe brackets. I
As shown, a portion of eachupw'ardly and inwardly bent section is cut away to provide ashoulder 9, which shoulders are deslgned to contact with the arms of thes'upport, when the support is movedto a horizontal position, thereby holding the support in such position to-permit aroll tobe readily and easily applied to the spool.
flexible metal and includes the arms 10 and '11 respectively, the arm 10 being provided with a right angled portion 12 which is curved outwardly as zit-l3, the extreme end of the arm terminating in a right angled portion 14 which providesa hook-or stop to prevent the spool 15 from being removed from the support.
The spool is formed preferably of metal v I The support is formed preferably of.
and is hollow to receive the ends of the arms 10 and 11, therebeing provided an opening in each end of the spool toadmit the right angled ends of the arms} The right angled portion 16 forms ;a part of the arm 11 and when a roll is to be removed from the support, the arm 11 is moved laterally to-disengage the right angled-portion 16 from the spool.
From the foregoing it will be seen that if it is desired to remove a roll from'the support, the arm 11 is disengage-d, -where-.
upon the spool 15 may "be moved to a position as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2'
of the drawing. When the spool is in this position, it will be readily seen that the roll will fall therefrom.
In the event that the arm 11 should become accidentally disconnected from the spool 15, the roll could not fall from the support, since it is necessary on theremoval,
of the roll to manually move the spool15' to as disclosed in dotted-lines in a position Fig. 2.
It might be further stated that in the event that the roll is to be supported in spaced relation with thesupportingwal'l, the support in'its entirety, may be moved to a position at right angles to the supporting wall, where the same. may be shifted laterally to cause one of the arms to contact with the shoulder of the bracket associated therewith whereupon the arms are held in such position. I
Having thus described the invention What is claimed as new is l. A vroll holder including a pair of brackets, each bracket having a gripping memher and having a shoulder disposed adjacent thereto a movable support including a rod having arms formed at its ends, one or said arms extending inwardly and having an outwardly curved portion terminating in a right angled end, a spool supported on the arms, and the opposite arm having a right angled end to be positioned in theflopposite end of the spool.
2, A roll holder including a pair of brackets, a support including a rod means for.
connecting the rod to the brackets to permit of movement of the support Wlth' respect to the brackets, said support having-arms, each 7 of said arms having a right angled end, a spool supported on the right angled ends,
and means forming a part of one right WALTE Z. MURRAY.
