- Z j 0 a After these flanges 10 have been properly positioned with respect to the tongues 11 and 12 the parts are spot-welded or otherwise socured together to firmly and rigidly connect them and provide a very staunch structure. It will be understood that these tongues and flanges are. provided at the opposite ends of both the top and bottom edges of the door. four sets of reinforcement thus being provided. i
The constructkm of the tongues it and 12 from the ribs or columns realizes the strength of these walls in the reinforcement of the flanges 10; such tongues. however, may be produced as shown in Figs. 1") to 8.
' which show the tongues 11 and 12 as projecting' from the end edges of the fiat portions 7 and 9 respectively of the bent back leaves.
It will be understood that divers changes in the specific construction disclosed may be made without materially departing from the principles involved, as for example, the flanges and. tongues may be of other shapes than herein shown, ormay be riveted to g ther. Ajll' of such modifications it w ll be understood are fully contemplated. as coming within the scope of the appended .claims, as this invention is not limited to the types of structure herein shown and de scribed.
What is claimed as new is 1- 1. A door consisting of a plate the longitudinal edges whereof are folded back and provided with longitudinal columns intermediate the edges of the folded back portion's, tongues at the ends of the folded back portionson each side of the respective columns, and lateal flanges on the end edges of the door plate secured to said tongues.
2. A door consistin of a plate the longitudinal edges whereof are folded back upon itself, a lateral tongue at each end of each folded back portion, and a lateral flange at each end of the plate contacting the respective tongues and secured thereto.
3. A door consistin of a plate having folded back leaves along its longitudinal edges. lateral members on said leaves, and lateral members on the adjacent portions of the plate that contact and are secured to the first mentioned lateral members.
4. A door structure comprising a plate opposite edges whereof are folded back upon themselves and having columns formed in the folded back portions intermediate the vided upon opposite sides of the columns.
A door structure comprising a plate opposite edges whereof are folded baekaipon themselves. columns extending longitudinally of the folded back portions and spaced from the folded edges. and lateral flanges extending along the. edges of said plateagainst which the ends of said columns abut.
6. A door structure comprising a plate opposite edges whereof are folded back upon themselves. hollow columns formed intermediate the edges of the folded back or.- tions. and lateral flanges extending aong tlietransverse edges of the plate against which said columns abut.
7. A door structure comprising a plate, opposite edges whereof, are folded back upon themselves. columns formed in said folded back portions, lateral flanges extending along the transverse edges of the plate, and projections below said flangesachacent the ends of'the columns to which projections said flanges-are secured.
