EXTENSION-"TABLE. 1
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, Frurro SANTORO, a
and resident of of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have inventedcerspecification.
My invention relates to tables of the extension, circular top type,
,rangement embodying a plurality of leaves or topf sections so shaped and adapted to be so associated with two or more tables havin circular topsthat' an elongated table m'dy be produced having 5 either angular or Further, it is .a purpose of sections that :a single circular table converted into a rectangulartable,
further it is one of my purposes to provide a construction which will permit of the circular top tables produced in accordance with my invention being used singly and independent of the leaves or top sections.
Further it is a purpose ofmy invention to provide a construction allowing facility -and compactness in arranging the parts, of
- struction,- combina tion and-arrangement of to modification and change with the exercise my improved table for transportation and storage-F .2-
My inventlon consists in the peculiar con parts'to be hereinafter more fully set forth in connection {W1 h the accompanying drawings which: are illustrative of the best em- 'bodiments of my invention: known to me at, present, but which'are, however, susceptible.
of only iordinary mechanical out departing from the scope skill and withof the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
' f'In the drawings Figure 1 isa top plan of a table having a top eonstructed in accordance with my-1n-. .vention Fig. 3 a side elevation of the'table' illustratedin Fig. 1;

and one of its purposes resides. in the provision of, an artending upward is a pair of spaced pins 17 i Certain of the similarlview of another table recesses in v V 7 the twotables .andB-are of exactly slmconnecting the two tables illustrated in Figs.

in Figs. 1 and tables,.the former in- 2, two
eluding a circular top 10 and, the latter a. circular top 11.
The underface of thetop 10 0f the table .A is recessed at 12 and within this recess,
nearits ends, are pivoted the legs 13 of this table, said legswhen; swung to folded position lyingentirely within said recess as best illustrated inthe sectional view Fig. 12. Likewise the under face of the top 11 of table Bis recessed at 14 to'receive the pivoted legs 15 ofthis table. Top 10. of.
table A at evenly spaced pointsin its upper face is provided with recesses 16 which open into the peripheraledge and are of a depth somewhat less than ithe thickness of the top so that shelves are thus formed with their upper faces disposed below the plane of -the upper face of the table top Exfrom each of these shelves shelves are recessed to receive supporting members. 18 1n the shelves so as to be permitted to swing outwardly therefrom. pear. Preferably the tabletop 10 is provided certain of them proteners 19 for a purpose which will later apr in all respects to the;
Aside fromthedifi'erence in the numberof the upper faces of their tops ilar construction with the further exception Zthattable provided on its under face the pins17 to maintain the -blocks in place. 7 When it is desired to produce from the" table A a table having arectangularly shaped top, as illustrated in Fig. 8, I employ filler vided with projections 21 of a shape and.
size to snugly fit a pair of diametrically opposed recesses 16 in top 10 when the tables are so arranged in order to holdthem in properly assembled relation. The projections 21 are provided with openings properly spaced to receive the pins 17 when the tops are superposed as will be understood.
In conjunction with the tables just described I employ filler blocks 22 of a size and shape to fit the recesses 16 and to provide a'smooth unbroken top and peripheral surface for either of the tables when it is desired to' use the same as an independent circular table. These filler blocks are pro- 1 vided with openings 23 to be engaged by blocks such as are illustrated in Figs. 6 and 11, the ,latter consisting merely of rec tangular blocks 24 shaped to fit the recesses 16 and provided with openings 25 to receive the pins17, and the, former consisting of blocks 26 having a portion 27 shaped to fit the recesses 16 with another portion curved as at .28 to engage the periphery of the top adjacent the recesses. Each of these blocks includes a-main body portion 29 of angular shape so' that when four of them are asso- .ciated with a corresponding number of the recesses 16 and a pair of the blocks 24 are associated with the two remaining recesses, as. shown in Fig. 8, a rectangular table is provided having substantially the same dimensions as the circular table, the outer edges of the blocks 24 and 26 forming an ranged the bars 18 are swung out on their unbroken peripheral and upper surface extension of'each other as well as with the top 10. When the filler. blocks are so arpivots so as to underlie and support the 0 blocks 26 to which they may be secured by 5 the screw fasteners 19.
' When the two tables A and B are arranged side by side as shownin Fi connected by a block 30 which lar shape and of a size to fit respective recesses in the two tables, openings 31 being provided therein to receive the pins in the recesses. and when thisisdone the filler two tables in the mannerpreviously set forth blocks 26 may then be associated with the to fill the spaces between the tables and thus provide an elongated table the sides of which are straight and form an unbroken continuation of the curved edges ofthe tops 10 and 11. tWhen' thetwo tables A and =B are so associated the unused recesses of table top .top.

On the other hand if two tables similar to table A are so associated they may be converted into a single elongated table of rectangular shape by associating with both ends as well as between them, blocks such as those illustrated at 26. 1 I 7 When it is desired to compactly assemble the parts ofmy table for transportation or storage the top B may be arranged upon the topA with the pro ections 21 engaging a {pair of recesses 16 and the ring 20 maintaindimensionsas said circular top.
