BUCKET-SUPPORTING- LADDER-BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1920.
Application filed May 3, 1919. Serial No. 294,629.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND D. Boon- ARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rocky Ford, in the county of Otero and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bucket- Supporting Ladder-Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to supporting brackets, and has for its particular object to provide a holder which can be easily attached to any ladder and adjusted to hold various sizes of buckets or paint pails.
With this and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 indicates a section of a ladder with my improved supporting bracket fitted thereon,
Fig. 2 indicates a side view of the same,
Fig. 3 shows a top plan view,
Fig. 4 shows a bottom plan view of the holding member.
Fig. 5 shows a sectional viewof the holdin member,
*ig. 6 shows a pair of clamping members adapted to engage straight side ladders, and
Fig. 7 indicates clamping members adapted to engage side uprights of ladders where the same are round or to engage a rope.
Referring to the drawings like numerals designate like parts in the various drawings.
8 indicates a section of ladder. 9 indicates a supporting frame provided with the usual brackets which are adapted to add strength, and which are already known to the art. The inner ends 10 of said bracket are provided with clamping members 11 each of which may have a flat or a rounded inner surface as shown in Figs. 6 and 7. One of these clamping members is stationary, while the other is positioned on the block 12. 13 is a tightener member, screw threaded through the inner side of the ends 10, and adapted to rotate in the block 12 so as to force the same inwardly or outwardly as desired.
15 is a disk-shaped member mounted on the outer end of said supporting frame 9 in which is rotatably mounted a brace arm 16. This brace arm is provided with an orifice 17 through which an angle pin 18 passes and which is threaded on its outer end to receive the thumb nut 20. From this it will be seen that the brace arm 16 may be easily adjusted to a perpendicular position even though the ladder may be positioned at various angles to the perpendicular.
Mounted on the upper end of said brace arm 16 is a tray-shaped member 21 having its inner side 21 bent upwardly. This trayshaped member 21 is provided with parallel slots 22 and a pair of U-shaped members or books 23 positioned on the under side of said tray at the inner end ofsaid slots. 24. is a slidably mounted holder member positioned on the top of said tray 21 and having U-shaped members 25 extending through said slots 22 and adapted to slide in the same. 26 is a pair of spring members held between said U-shaped members 23 and 26 so as to give a tension between same. 27 is a handle on the outer side of said slidably mounted holder member 24:.
From the above description it will be seen that a painter or such like tradesman may use this bracket support to hold paint cans or the like. After putting the ladder up against the wall it will be necessary to adjust the brace arm 16 to a proper position. As soon as this is done a paint can can be placed on the tray 21 and it will be held in position by the slidable tensioned holder member 2 1.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction of my invention will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What I claim as new, is,
In combination with a supporting bracket consisting of a frame member, said frame member provided with means at its ends for clamping it to a ladder, said bracket extending outwardly from said ladder, a disk mounted on said bracket, an arm pivotally mounted centrally of said disk at one end, a means for holding said arm in relative fixed position to said disk, said arm having each other for holding a paint can or the like therebetween. 1 In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presenee, of two witnesses.
FERDINAND D. BOCEHER-D. Witnesses:
