To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RICHARD J. DA UIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pads for Umbrella- Tips; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to I non-slipping pads or feet.

Theobject of the invention is to provide an attachment for umbrella tips or canes which will act as a non-slipping or skidding element. It is a common annoyance in connection with umbrellas to have them slip down when they are stood against a wall or in a corner, thereby breaking the handles, or at least soiling the cloth. It is the particular intention of my invention to prevent this by providing a detachable tip which may be fitted onto any stock umbrella, and

will be clamped thereon by reason of the inherent resilience of the elements of the nonslipping device.

With the above objects in view, and such others relating to the details of construction, as may hereinafter appear, my inven tion will now be fully set forth and described, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents the tip of an umbrella, having the usual foot slug 2 molded into its extremity. A metal cap 3 is adapted to be sprung over the slug 2 or the tip 1, said cap consisting ofa tubularelement of spring metal having the slots 4: formed longitudinally therein and resilient spring tip gripping fingers, so that the cap may be fitted degree.

Molded around the cap 3 is a resilient body 6, said body 6 completely inclosing the cap 3 and being widened at its lower end to permit the formation of a concavity 7 which constitutes a suction cup. Above the cap 3, the body 6 is molded over the edges thereof so as to provide a contracted gripping collar 8 which will closely engage the periphery of the tip 1. The structure there by formed will grip a tip extended therein both by means of the cap 3 and the contraction 8, so that even should the device be extended over a tip whichis too small to be correspondingly engaged by means of the cap 3, the contraction 8 will hold the tip in place." By the use of the above described device, an umbrella may be caused to stand against a wall or in a corner without the usual danger of slipping to the annoyance of the owner.

What I claim as my invention is An attachment for umbrella tips consisting of a resilient cylindrical metal cap open at one end and having longitudinal slots ex tending through the open end edge with resilient spring fingers and a rubber body within which the cap is completely embedded, the rubber extending from the exterior of the cap across said slotted end edge of the cap and beyond the inner surface of the wall of the cap whereby to continuously and circumscribingly grip an umbrella tip engaged in the cap and to exclude passage of moisture and other foreign matter into the end and through the slots of the cap.
