To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1. JOHN Rocsmcnn, citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Chierqo, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and uselul Improvements in Extension-'lables; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in extension tables and more particularly to slides for tables of this character, the particular object oi the invention being to provide slides which are simple, cheap and durable, and at the same time are equipped with antitriction devices to insure their easy and free operation at all times.
The invention relates more particularly to metallic slides for tables of this character which will not swell, warp or become otherwise distorted and consequently difficult of operation.
The invention consists in the features of construction and combination or parts hereinatter fully described and particularly claimed.

Referring now to said drawings, 1 and 2 indicate the separable portions of the table top, and 3 indicates the top plate of the pedestal 4 upon which the table top is mounted. Secured to the ends of the plate 3 are two oppositely channeled rails, each comprising a pair of opposed channels 5 and 6, the middle portions of which are disposed back to back and are separated from each other by an open space into which the standards 7 project, the latter being secured to the in] ddle portions of the opposed channels 5 and 6 in any suitable manner. cured to the horizontal flange 9 of the chan nel bar to the other flange 10 of which the lower end oi? the standard 7 is secured, said channels being mounted on the upper end co rs oi the plate Mounted in the end portions of the open space between the opposed channels 5 and 6 are two supporting members 10 provided with L-shaped flanges 11 carrying studs 12 on which flanged anti friction rollers 13 are rotatably mounted.
Secured to the lower face or the member 1 of the top plate and similarly to the member 2 thereof are two angle strips 14, each flange 01' which is provided with a channeled lip 15. Each of the angle strips ll is secured only at one end portion to one of the table top members and projects normally underneath the other thereof. The vertical flange of each of the channel strips 1 1 opposes one of the channels 5 and 6 and carries a plurality oi studs on which anti- :triction rollers 16, 1'? and 18 are rotatably mounted. The said rollers 16, 17 and 18 are of a diameter greater than the mouth por tions of the channels 5 and 6 in which they are adapted to be received, thus holding the angle strips 1 against lateral movement relatively to the channels 5 and 6. The flange rollers 13 are disposed to support the lower edges of the vertical flanges of the angle strips 1%, and the flanges of said rollers are disposed to engage the lips 15 at the lower edges of said vertical flanges to firmly support said angle strips when the table top members 1 and 2 are separated so that the rollers 18 leave the ends of the channels in which they are engaged, thereby preventing sagging oi said table top members in their extended positions.
My said table slides are particularly adapted to be used on extension tables equipped with suitable stops for limiting the outward movement of the members 1 and 2, such means being particularly illustrated and described in my copending application for Letters Patent for extension tables Ser. No. 179099 filed July 6, 1917, or any other means such as a flexible element or other coacting stops which are well known in the art and, therefore, are not herein particularly described as constituting no part of the present invention.
The construction as herein illustrated and described permits the use of relatively light sheet metal for the construction of slides or sutlicient strength and durability to bear the strains and stresses to Which they are subjected in use With the minimum weight of material employed. This is due to the specific construction of the several elements of the slide and also to the use of the rollers 13 disposed in supporting relation to the rails carried by the table top members for aflording the latter firm support at the extreme ends of the members rigidly mounted on the pedestal or other support tlor the table top It will be understood, of course, that in the accompanying drawings I have shown only the preferred embodiment of the invention, it being obvious that said embodiment may be changed and varied in details without departing from the invention as defined in the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. An extension table comprising a base, a pair of parallel rails mounted on opposite sides oi the base each comprising two oppositely disposed channeled members having contracted mouth portions, a pair of separable table top members, a pair of rails secured to each thereof and projecting beneath the other, a plurality of antifriction rollers carried by each of said rails and en gaging in the respective channels of the rails of said base, and antifriction rollers mounted at the ends of the latter in supporting relation to the rails secured to the table top members.
2. An extension table slide comprising a middle member adapted to be mounted on a rigid support and comprising two channeled elements presenting outwardly facing contracted mouth portions, a rail opposing the mouth portion of each of said channeled elements and equipped with a plurality of antifriction rollers engaging in the latter, said last-named rails being longitudinally movable relatively to the first-named, and antifriction rollers mounted at opposite ends of said first-named rails in sup orting relation to the lower edges of the last-named.
