These and certuin other advantages which will appear more fully hereinafter, urese' ;cured in the device of the present invention, the construction and operation of which is fully described in the specification which follows, illustrated in. the eccomponying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

My sash-fastener is indicated at C, and consists of a substantially oblong revoluble button or catch substantially wedge-formed in cross-section at one end to provide a friction locking surface C zidupted to be wedged between the sash and frame to talio up all lost motion and looseness between the pints end to prevent the sash from rattling.

In applying my fasteners, the pivots D are driven or set into the sash at the )roper places to dispose the fasteners O in e eotive relation to the frame A, care being taken to so hung the fasteners as to present their thin edges C toward each other. When properly hung on their pivots, the fasteners are swung upwardly by pressing upon their Wing portions C until their wedge forrned surfaces enter between the sash and frame, being retained in such position by friction. In disengaging the fasteners they are simply swuno in the reverse direction.
Various modifications in the form and construction of my device may obviously be resorted to, within the limits of the appended claims. y
What ltherefore claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: i
l. A pivoted sash fastener, consisting of a substantially fiat oblong plate having its longitudinal edges raised above the plane of the plate to provide a pair of oppositely disposed spaced thumb operating portions,
the opposite end of said plate being formed as a wedge surface extending continuously across the. plate beyond the ends of said tliulnb dpersting portions, said wedge surface sloping downwardly from the end of one tb unb portion to the ad acent corner of the plate and sloping upwardly from said corner back toward the thumb portion at the opposite longitudinal edge of the plate.
