APPLICATION FILED MAY 13. WW.

INVENTOR.
BY QQQBMW ATTORNEY D$CAR L. BAHFGRTH, OF SAN DIEGU, CALIEZBRNIA, ASSIG-NOB, IQ MAT'XLDA DANFORIH,
0F Sc -Hi? EIEGC, C.-iLZFG?tl IIAJ Specification of Letters Patent.
Fatented July 22, 1919.
Application filed m is, 1919. serial no. access.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Osoan L. Dnnronrni, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Diego,in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented a certain new and useful lVindow-Lock, of which the following is a specification.
'My invention relates to a window lock for locking the window sash in certain positions relatively to the window frame and the objects of my invention are: first, to provide a window lock ofthis class in which the window sash may be readily locked in opened or closed position or in various in termediate positions as desired; second, to provide a lock of this class which may be readily applied to the ordinary sash now in use; third, to provide a lock of this class which is in the form of an eccentric and when in operative position prevents the sash from moving either up or down, as the further the sash is moved in either direction the tighter it engages the window frame and fourth, to provide a lock of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, durable, easy to install, easy to operate and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
Withthese and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail andparticularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the charactors of reference thereon which form a part of this application, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a fragmentary portion of a window frame and sash and showing my loci; in inoperative position on the window sash; Fig. 2 is a similar view and showing the lock in operative position; Fig. 3 is a sectional view through 33 of Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 is a diagrammatic view of my lock showing its position by solid lines when the lock. is'pist placed in operative position and showing by dotted lines the position it would take if the window sash was forced downwardly.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and The screw 1, support 2, pivotal "-n riber 3,
ortions throughout the several views of t -e drawings.
stitute the principal. parts and portions of port 3 by means of a pin 5, the member 3 being bifurcated and the extended ends of said pin 5 secured therein. This member 3 is semicircular in form and provided with two extended portions the one odset at 3 and spaced apart from the other member to their outer edges. Mounted between these members and secured thereto is the member 4: which is composed of an elastic and adhesive material preferably rubber and. the edge ma" oe notched as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 or smooth as shown in Fig. 4 as desired. 1.111s edge is adapted to engage the W-lIldOW frame when the lock folded into operative position as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and i 05 the drawings. This member '3 is provide on the one side with the handlemember 6 which is for the purpose of facilitating the folding movement of the members 3 and i into and out of engagement with the window frame. 1
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions 1 do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement but there is provided a window look so constructed that it may be positioned on the window sash and engage the window frame so that in moving the sash either up or down the lock operates eccentrically so that the further the sash is moved the tighter the lock engages the window frame, thus preventing the movement of the sash either up or. down. That the lock may be readily secured to any window sash in the position desired to prevent movement of the sash up or down. I
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: i
1, a window look, a supporting member pivotally connected to the window sash,
another member pivotally connected to said supporting member adapted to fold against said supporting member and when folded forms an eccentric with the pivotal mounting of said supporting member.
2. In a device of the class described, a supporting member, a screw' for securing one end of said supporting member to a window sash, another member pivoted on the opposite end of said supporting member adapted to fold against said supporting member and so formed that an eccentric is provided Withthe pivotal mounting of said support. I
3. Ina device of the class described, a
supporting member, a screw for securing one end. of said supporting member to a "WilldOW sash, another member pivoted 0n the oppositeend of said supporting member adapted to fold against said supporting member and so formed that an eccentric is provided with the pivotal mounting of said support and means secured to said pivotally mounted member adapted to engage the WillCiOW frame-When saidpivotally mounted member is folded against said support.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at San-Diego, California, this 7th day of May, 1919.
OSCAR L. DANFORTH.
