llhe present-application 1s a division of an application filed by us April 2%, 1916, Serial No. 93,109, Patent No. 1,235,928,,dated August l, 1917. lhe invention relates to apj paratus for washin waste ases and utilizing the heat therco and wi by reference to the accompanying drawing which is a vertical section, more or less diagrammatic, through a steam bbiler plant containing our special washing apparatus.
Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a bank of inclined generating tubes expanded into front and rear headers, said headers being connected b pipes to a steam and water drum 2. T eboiler is fired by any suitable type of stoker 3. The bank of tubes is provided with baffles to the uptake ends of the tubes. Above the bank of tubes, is a superheater 4, and above the latter is an economizer 5. The flow of the gases over the boiler tubes, superheaterand economizer is indicated b arrows, the flow being directed by suitable bafies, some of which balhes are shown. The parts above referred to maybe of any usual and well-known design and connected in a known manner, as indicated in the drawing. The arrangement shown is selected merely for the purpose 0 illustrating one type of boiler to which the invention may be applied.

Among the advantages secured by our invention are that the gases leaving the boiler are washedfree fromsoot and dust-thereby furnace gases as more fully described in an e'iaoie application for patent, Serial No. filed December 8, 191 4.
