NON-BEFILLAIBLE BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
' Be it known that I, TONY LEON, a citizen of Russia, residing at Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
' My invention relates to non-refillable bottles and the primary object thereof resides in the provision of a non-refillable bottle relating more specifically to a bottle valve for operation in the neck of a bottle, said valve being-normally seated when the bottle is in an upright positionto prevent liquid being poured into the bottle body and movable forwardly inthe neck when the bottle is in verted to permit of the contents being freely dispensed. I
Another object of my invention resides in the provision of a novel stop means formed in the neck of the bottle for limiting the outward movement of the bottle valve and for allowing the liquid to pass through the neck and thence through the mouth while the liquid is being dispensed.
A further object of my invention resides in theprovision of a novel means associated with the bottom of the bottle body for closing the body after it has been originally filled.
A still further object of my invention resides in the provision of a device of the character described that is simple in construction, elficient in operation and one that can be manufactured and placed on the market at a minimum cost.
Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of my invention will be morereadily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming a part of this specification.
In the drawings I Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of my invention showing the valve normally seated, the dotted lines showing the position of the valve when the bottle is inverted.
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrow;
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1 in the direction in which the arrow points, the bottle body being broken away; and
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the closing plug. Referring more particularly to the draw- 1ngs in which similar reference numerals designate like and corresponding parts througho'ut the diiferent views, I provide a bottle body 1 having a neck 2 issuing therefrom, said neck having inwardly extending annular flange '3 formed integral with the lower inner periphery thereof, the inner edge of which is provided with an annular recess t for a purpose to be hereinafter described. Extending inwardly from the inner periphery of the neck intermediate the ends thereof are a plurality'of guarding lugs 5, said lugs being arranged at diametrically opposite points to each other. The lugs are formed at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the neck, as indicated at 6. Adjacent the mouth 7 of the bottle neck, an annular guarding flange 8 is extended inwardly from the inner periphery, the interior of the neck being tapered toward the mouth 7 from the flange 8 as indicated at 9. This internal arrangement of the neck reduces-to a minimum the insertion of and engagement with the valve means by wire likely to be used by unauthorized persons when trying to refill the bottle.
For a purpose of normally closing the opening provided between the edges of flange 3, I have provided iny improved valve means. In'this instance, I have arranged a disk valve 10 having a flared end 11 and depending tapering and centrally arranged stem 12 in the opening provided between the edges of the flange 3. The disk valve is seated in the recess 4: while the flared end 11 engages the upper beveled edge of the recess so thatthe upper surface .of the valve 10 will lie flush with the seat of the flange 3 when the bottle is in a normal vertical position. When the bottle is inverted, the valve will slide forwardly through the neck and strike the lugs 5 which limit the outward movement of the valve, the liquid within the body being allowed to pass about the edges of the valve 10 and between the lugs and thence through the mouth. The sliding movement of the valve is guided by the stem which, incidentally, prevents displacement of the valve 10.
For the purpose of filling the body initially, I have provided the bottom of the bOdy with a central opening 13, the lower end of which communicates with the annular recess 14. A disk-like plug 15, having a reduced end 16, is cemented or otherwise rigidly connected in the recess while the re duced end 16 engages the opening 14. hen in this described position, the inner and outer surfaces of the plug are arranged flush with the inner and outer surfaces of the bottom ofthe body 1. The operation of my invention is as follows:
Assuming that liquid has been placed in the bottle through the opening 13 and that the cap 15 has been associated with the bottom of the bottle and that it is desired to dispense some of the original contents, the body is inverted causing the valve to slide forwardly in the neck and strike the lugs' 5 simultaneously allowing the liquid to flow through the opening between the edges of the flange 3, about the sides of the valve, which is narrower than the neck pass between the lugs, and thence flow toward and out of the mouth, After a suitable quantity of liquid has been dispensed, the bottle is placed in its normal vertical position, the stem 12 guiding the disk valve on to its seat, the recess in the flange 3. When the valve has been arranged in this position, refilling of the bottle is prevented,
Although I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I desire it to be understood that I am not to be limited to the exact details shown, however, I desire that great stress be laid upon the arrangement of the bottle neck having the novel valve means operating therein as well as the novel stop means for limiting the movement of the valve. Attention is also directed to the guarding flange which tends to prevent the application of a wire about the valve.
From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it can be seen that I have provided a device that is simple in construction containing but a few simple parts that can be cheaply manufactured and assembled and when assembled can be placed upon the market and sold at a minimum cost.
It will be understood that the above description and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general embodiment of my invention and that various minor changes in detail of construction, proportion and arrangement of the parts may be made within the, scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention. Having thus fully described my invention what I, claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A non-refillable bottle, which comprises a body portion and a neck issuing therefrom, an inwardly extending annularflange integral with the inner walls of the neck adjacent the body andhaving a valve seat formed thereon, a disk valve including a stem normally disposed on the seat and having its upper surface adapted to lie flush with the upper surface of the flange, and integral guard means formed in the neck and positioned above the valve for limiting the movement of the latter away from the valve seat and to prevent its removal from the bottleneck. 2. A non refillable bottle, which comprises a body portion and a neck extending therefrom, said neck being provided with a through passage having a plurality of diameters, one of which diameters constitutes a chamber having at one end a valve seat formed concentric to the passage, the opposite end of said chamber serving also as .a fiat valve seat, a valve disposed in the chamber'and normally seated in the first named valve seat, said valve being providedwith a stem that is adapted to operate in the passage leading to the body, and at another diameter, and two connecting I chambers formed that are substantially conical in shape, one of the chambers being provided .with ribs vertically arranged, the ends of which form the flat valve seat, and the other being adapted to receive a cork.
