IMPROVEMENT IN WINDOW-SCREENS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,737, dated May 14, i872.
I, UHARLEs A. PEASE, of the city of Boston, in the county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Window-Screen, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the combination of aframe witha movable grooved. rail, to the inside of which the upper edge of a screen is attached, and guide-rods and plates, said movable rail being fastened to the lower bar of the lower sash of a window, so that when said sash is raised the screen is drawn up to its place; and when said sash is closed, the screen is folded into the groove of said movable rail and out of sight. V
Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing the screen partly drawn up. Fig. 2 is a front sectional view, showing the screen partly drawn up, the slots in side rail of screen-frame, the rods on which the guides attached to movable rail slide; also, the rings attached to sides of screen, and the fastenin gs that keep said frame in its place. Fig. 3 is an end sectional view. Fig. 4 is an end sectional view, showing the groove in the movable rail, and the manner of fastening the movable rail to the sash of the window. Fig. 5 is a sectional view, showing the slot in the side rail of the frame, the guides attached to end of movable rail, and end of rod on which the guide and rings attached to side of screen play.
A is the frame of the screen. B is a movable rail, with a groove, 0, in its lower side, into which the screen D folds out of sight when it is closed. E is the fastener, by which the movable rail is attached to the lower bar of the sash F of the window. G are guides attached to the ends of the movable rail, and which play up and down in slots H and on rods I in said slots. On the sides of the screen are fastened ringsJ, which slide up and down and fold said screen'into the groove in the movable rail when it is closed. L are bolts that fasten said screen-frame to the window-casin g.
I claim as my invention- The combination of a frame with a grooved movable rail, into which the screen folds, with guide-rods and guide-plates, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
- CHARLES A. PEASE.
