IMPROVEMENT IN PENCIL-CASES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,448, dated May 7, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that WESLEY H. DAVIS, of Hartsville, in the county of Bartholomew and State of Indiana, has invented a new and valuable Improvement in Pencil-Holders; and he does hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a central longitudinal section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.

This invention has relation to a combined pencilholder and pencil-sharpener; and conis fitted a metallic cap, A having a plain or threaded socket to receive the end of thepenci], and a flange or ridge, a, to prevent it from passing too far into the case. The case at this end is split longitudinally at several places, as shown at a. This will allow the cap to pass in, the case spreading open to receive it. B represents a sleeve, which is used to bind the case when the cap is inserted.

When the pencil is to be used the cap is reversed, either end being adapted to fit the case.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination, with a wooden leadpencil, of the reversible cap A a, and the metallic holder, constructed and arranged substantially as specified.
