Be it known that I, JACOB SUMTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at 1458 First avenue, New York city,in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lettering-Pens, of which the following is a specification. j

This invention comprehends the provision of a draftsmans lettering pen, which is ex tremely simple in construction, with a view of reducing the cost of production and sale of the same to a minimum, and so designed a W to make letters of uniform thickness.

More specifically stated, the invention embodies a pair of spaced nibs parallel throughout 1 their length, and obliquely disposed with respect to the main body portion of' the pen, thus defining an ink reservoir at the angular junction between the nibs and body portion, which. reservoir is in opencommunicatlon with the space between the nibs. e

The nibs 12 as a unit are obliquely disposed with respect to the main body portion of the pen as clearly shown in Fig. 2, the angularity of said nibs in this connection being approximatelythirty degrees. With the formation of the pen in this manner coupledwith the angular disposition of the nibs with respect to the main body portion, an ink reservoir 14 is provided at the angular junction of the nibs 12 with the main body portion of the pen, and which reservoir is in open communication with the space between the nibs 12. This particular design of pen not only makes letters of uniform thickness as illustrated in Fig. 6, but will not. overflow, and yet holds a considerable supply of ink. The pen in addition to being cheap to manufacture,

canfbe readily and easily cleaned when desired by moving the sharpv edge of a piece of paper through the space between the nibs if properly proportioned can be used in conjunction with the ordinary and well known form of pen holder.

It is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be apparent, and while Ihave shown and described what I consider the preferred embodiment of the invention, I desire to have it understood that such changes in the construction and arrange ment of parts may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
