rl`his invention relates to certain improvements in necktie fasteners and has relation more particularly to a device of this gen' eral character which also serves as a form for the ties and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this general character having novel and improved means whereby the same may be readily and conveniently applied in operative position and which serves to effectively maintain the tie in place.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved necktie fasteners wherein certain important advantages are attained and thedevice rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fullv set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be better understood I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:

Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a necktie fastener constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;

Fig. 2 is a view in rear elevation of my improved necktie fastener as herein disclosed;

Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation of the device as herein embodied;

Fig. 4 is a view in front elevation of a necktie fastener constructed in accordance with a further -embodiment of my invention.

As disclosed in the accompanying drawings mv improved necktie fastener is produced from a single length of wire of requiintermediate its length to form an eye 1. The strands immediately adjacent the eye are twisted one about the other as indicated at 2 and then separated to afford the spring jaws 3 which are adapted to engage a collar button in a manner which is believed to be clearly apparent to those skilled in the art to which my invention pertains. The strands are then returned and disposed inwardly in slight diverging planes, as indicated at 1, said portions i terminating adjacent the eye 1 and being directed on predetermined inward inclines. From the portions 4 the strands extend laterally a predetermined distance as indicated at 5 and are then returned as at 6 whereby oppositely directed loops are afforded and which loops are adapted to fit between the folds of a collar of a well known style. |The portions 6 are continued by the forwardly directed portions 7 which are loosely disposed through the eye 1 and have their free or outer end portions twisted one about the other as indicated at 8 whereby the free or outer extremities of the portions 7 are connected. 'I he portions 5 and 6 of each of the strands are also disposed on a predetermined curvature so as to readily conform to a collar when in applied position.

The wire from which my improved device is produced possesses a certain degree of inherent resiliency which permits the portions 7 to freely move through the eye 1 so that when the device is employed as a form sufficient movement of the portion 6 is permitted to facilitate the desired mounting of the tie.

While the portions 5 and 6 are capable of sufiicient relative movement to readily permit the improved device as illustrated in Figs. 1, 9. and 3 to be employed in connection with collars of varying heights I find it of advantage to employ the form of invention as illustrated in Fig. l in connection with collars of a low type. In this form of invention the construction is substantially the same as has hereiiibefore been set forthv relative to Figs. 1, 2 and 3 except that the portions 5a and (iEL are preferably twisted one about the other or otherwise arranged in close proximity.

From the foregoing description, it is though to be obvious that a necktie fastener constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without materially departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as IDU limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim l. A necktie fastener formed of a single length of material and coiled midway its length to aord an eye, the strands ofthe material immediately adjacent the eye being twisted one about the other, said twisted portions of the strands being continued by jaws adapted to engage a button, the outer ends of the jaws being continued in returned portions terminating adjacent the eye, the

returned portions being continued by oppositely directed portions, said oppositely directed portions being continued by returned portions loosely directed through the eye, the extremities of said last named returned portions being connected one to the other,

. the oppositely directed portions and the last namedv portions aording loops adapted to be inserted between the folds of a collar.
