Be it known that I, THOMAS W. GILBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greenville, in the county of Piscataquis and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie Forms; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention aims to provide an exceptionally simple and inexpensive device, whereby the attractive appearance of a neatly tied four-in-hand tie will be presented, without the necessity of in reality forming any knot at all, provision being made where by it is only necessary to place the intermediate portion of the tie in front of the improved form and to pass the ends of the tie around the ends of such form and over a lower side bar thereof, to produce the desired appearance.

lVith the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.

Figures 1 and 2 are respectively front and rear elevations of the invention.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the form and the tie partly in place thereon.

The drawing above briefly described illustrates what may be considered as the preferred form of the device, on account of its extreme simplicity and consequent cheapness of manufacture.

F designates the form in a general way, and T has reference to the tie which may be of any desired form.

In constructing the form F in the manner herein disclosed, I make use of a single length of wire. The intermediate portion of this wire is bent to provide a lower side bar 1 for the form, said bar having upwardly diverging ends. At the ends of the bar 1, the end portions 2 of the wire are bent downwardly and inwardly and converge downwardly to a point over the center of the bar 1, being then bent to form two loops 3 in a common plane and disposed between the converging portions 2 and the bar 1. The ends of the wire are then connected by twisting them together as indicated at 4, the" twisted portions forming a vertical attaching neck. At the lower end of this neck, the

In connecting a tie with the form, the

central portion of said tie is placed in front of said form, the ends of the tie are carried rear-wardly around the ends of the form, and

said ends of the tie are then passed forwardly and downwardly over the end portions'of the bar 1, as indicated in Fig. 3. Then, simply by holding the form in one hand and pulling downwardly upon the ends of the tie with the other hand, the latter will move into position in such manner as to give the appearance of a neatly tied neck-tie, as will be clear from Figs. 1 and 2. The loops 3 now form an effective mat for supporting the knot-simulating portion of the tie. V

The device is extremely simple and inexpensive, yet is very desirable, and on account of the advantages existing for the construction disclosed, -such construction may Well be followed. However, within the scope of the invention as claimed, modifications may of course be made.

I claim:

1. A neck-tie form comprising a single length of wire having its intermediate portion bent to provide a lower side bar with upwardly diverging ends, the end portions of the wire being extended inwardly and downwardly at the ends of said lower side bar and attached to each other at a point over the center of said bar to provide an upper side member, the free ends of the wire being extended from the aforesaid point and bent to provide a clip to embrace a collar-button.

2. A neck-tie form comprising a single length of wire having its intermediate portion bent to provide a lower side bar with upwardly diverging ends, the end portions of the wire being bent inwardly and down wardly at the ends of said lower side bar, disposed over the latter and twisted together at a point adjacent the center of said bar, providing an attaching neck, the free ends of the wire at the lower end of said neck being bent to provide a clip to embrace a collar button.

3. A neck-tie form comprising a single length of wire having its intermediate portion bent to provide a lower side bar with upwardly diverging ends, the endportions of the wire being bent inwardly and downwardly at the ends of said lower side bar, converging downwardly to a point over the center of said lower bar being then bent away from each other to form two loops in a common plane between the downwardly converging portions and the lower bar, and being finally bent to form a collar button engaging clip. v

A. neck-tie form comprising a single length of wire having its intermediate portion bent to provide a lower side bar with upwardly diverging ends, the end portions of the wire being bent inwardly and downwardly at the ends of said lower side bar, converging downwardly to a point over the center of said lower bar, being then bent away from each other, then converging downwardly to a point above the first bending point, then upwardly in parallel relation to one another and finally bent and twisted to form a downwardly opening collar-button engaging clip.
