IMPROVEMENT IN BRUSHES FOR APPLYING BLACKING T0 BOOTS AND SHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,815, dated February 20, 1872.
Specification describing a new and useful Improvement in Brush for Applying Blacking to Boots and Shoes, invented by NATHAN EISENMANN, of the city, county, and State of New York.
The figure is a side view of my improved brush, partly in section to show the construction.
My invention has for its object to furnish a simple and convenient brush for applying liquid blackin g to boots and shoes, and for various other uses; and it consists in constructing the brush proper, or the parts rigidly connected therewith, so that it shall be adapted to be attached to the nozzle of a can, as here inatter described.
A is the brush, the bristles of which are attached to and secured upon the handle a, in
the ordinary manner. The handle a is made short so that its upper end may project but little above the butt of the brush A. The
handle a is perforated longitudinally to receive the nozzle of an ordinary spring-bottomed oil-can, B. To the upper end or butt of the brush A a or to the upper end of the short handle a is attached a cap or hand piece, 0, for convenience in grasping and holding the brush with the fingers when using it, while the thumb rests upon the spring-botto in of the can B, ready to press upon it to eject the blacking Witnesses J AMES T.
