particularly toladies un er-vests.
The object of my invention is tocombine with an under-vest of the sleeveless type and having a low-neck opening, a pair of sleeves which may readily be attached to or detached from the shoulder straps of said vest,
whereby said vest with the sleeves attached may be worn under a shirt-waist or dress designed'for street or every day wear, and whereby it will be unnecessary for the wearer to remove the entire under-vest when character adapted for wear under an evenmg outer garment such as described.
In the accompanyin drawing, which shows one embodiment 0% my invention,
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the under- 80 vest showing one sleeve attached to, and
the other sleeve detached from the shoulder straps,
Fig. 2 isan enlarged sectional view showing the connection between the upper end of a sleeve and the corresponding shoulder strap and F1g. 3 is an enlarged detail perspective 7 view;
Referring to the drawing, I have shown a ladys under-vest of the sleeveless type and preferably formed of knitted material, which consists of a tubular body-encircling portion 5, the front and back upper edges thereof beingscalloped to form a resultant low neck opening 6 and spaced shoulder straps 7-.7 for supporting said body por-.
tion 5. While I have shown the under-vest as being a separate garment, it will be obviops that the same might be embodied in a union suit.
Combined with this under-vest are sleeves 88, which may be either, of half length or full length. The upper ends of these sleeves and the shoulder straps of the under-vest 65 are respectively provided with means whereby said sleeves may be readily detached fromthe vest without-the necessity of the wearer having to remove the body portion 5. To this end, the shoulder straps of the undervest are respectively provided with spaced openings 99, which may be either formed in the shoulder strap itself or by a cross bar,
edging being attached to said shoulder straps. The upper ends of the sleeves are each preferably formed with spaced openings 1010 corresponding in number to the openings 99 above described, or these openings 1010 may be formed by a cross bar edging being attached to the upper ends of said sleeves. Tapes- 11-11 are laced through the corresponding openings of the shoulder straps and the sleeves so as to detachably connect the' upper ends of said.
sleeves with the respective shoulder straps of said under-vest.
From the foregoing, it will be readily apparent that I have provided a ladys undervest with sleeves which are detachably connected to the shoulder straps of said undervest, whereby said vest maybe worn under a shirtwaist or dress designed for street or every day wear. It will also be obvious that by means of my invention it will be unnecessary for the wearer to remove the body-encircling portion 5 when changin said outer garment for an evening bodice o the sleeve less or transparent type, as the sleeves may be readily detached to thereby convert said under-vest to one ofthe character adapted for wear underan eveningouter garment of the character described;
What I claim is:
Thecombination with a ladys sleeveless under-vest, including a body-encircling portion having a'low neck openin and relatively narrow shoulder straps or supporting said body portion disposed at opposite sides of said neck opening, the outer ed es of theshoulder straps belng in substantlal alinement with the side lines of the body ably connecting the upper ends of said sleeves directly with the respective shoulder straps. In testimony whereof I alfix my signature in the Presence of two witnesses.
