Application filed July 20, 1916. Serial No. 110,326.

To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK EDWARD Mons, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, and State of Michigan, have invented a Nailless Combination Window Shade and Curtain Hanger.

rThis invention relates to a combination window shade and hanger, and the primary object of my invention is to provide an adjustable window frame fixture that can be easily and quickly placed in position to support curtain shade rollers and curtain poles, without resorting-to nails, screws,.tacks or similar fastening means for holding the fixture inposition, thus not marring; or disfiguring a window frame. I j

Another object of the inventionis to provide a window fixture which can be easily and quickly adjusted and clamped-between the stiles of a window frame, to support curtain shade rollers or a curtain pole at a desired elevation relative to windowsashes.

A further object of my invention is to provide a simple, durable and inexpensive fixture of the above type consisting of comparatively fewl parts that are easy to assemble and highly efficient for the purposes for which they are intended.

rlhe above and other objects are attained by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter described, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein- Figure 1 is a cross sectional view vof the xture in position relative to a window frame;

In the drawing, 11 denotes longitudinally alining fixture members that may 4be Vmade of wood, metal or any suitable material. These members are preferably rectangular in cross section and have the confronting ends thereof provided with longitudinal bores 9 in which are mounted sleeves 10 and l1, the former being interiorly screwthreaded and the walls of the latter smooth. Adjustable in the threaded sleeve 10 is a screw 12 having a smooth end 13 rotatable in the sleeve 11 and on said screw is a nut 5 abutting a washer 14 against the end of the sleeve 10. Encircling the screw 12, between the nut 5 and the end. of the sleeve 11 is a coiled compression spring 8. rlhe expansive force of this spring tends to hold the fixture members separated l Closing the gap between the confronting ends of the fixture member Ll is a shiftable sleeve G and this sleeve may be shifted on to either of the fixture members lwhen it isdesired to adjust the nut 5 and further separate the fixture members et.

The outer ends of the fixture members 1 are provided with pads or blocks 7, preferably of rubber, felt or yieldable material and these pads or blocks are adapted for engagement with the stiles 15 of a window frame, without disfiguring or injuring` the finish of the Stiles.

The lower faces of the fixture members 4f are provided with angle brackets 3 adapted for supporting a curtain shade roller 16 in the usual and well known manner and side faces of the fixture members 11 are provided with Z-shaped brackets 2 adapted for supporting a curtain shade roller 17. Adjacent the brackets 2 are the inner fixed ends of bracket arms 1 adapted for vsupporting a curtain pole 1S, and as a result of this construction the outer and inner curtain shade Patented Feb. 20, 1917.

As shown in Fig. 1, the fixture members t may be placed in the extreme upper part of a window frame against the lintel thereof and the relative position of the curtains is such that each may be easily and individually adjusted.

One embodiment of my invention has been illustrated but it is to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claim.
