To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MORRIS A. KAMINn'r- SKY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Passaic, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Smoke- Bell Supports, of which the following 1s a specification.

My invention relates to supports, and more particularly to a heat deflector support for use in connection with illuminating gas fixtures.

The primary object of my invention is to provide a device of the character above mentioned adapted for detachable securement to a gas fixture whereby to support and retain a carrying bracket having a deflector associated therewith.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device of the character above mentioned so constructed that a plurality of deflectors may be supported on a chandelier or the like.

A further object of my invention is to provide a clamping support which allows the use of the device whereby to carry a deflector on the ordinary straight wall fixture.

A. still further object of my invention is to provide a supporting device of the character above mentioned in which the parts may be quickly and easily disassembled for packing and shipping, the structure being light, cheap to manufacture, and strong and durable.

With the above and other objects in view myinvention resides preferably in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,

In the drawings, wherein the preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated, in the first form thereof I provide a supporting member formed of a single strip of bendable metal, slightly resilient, having a loop 1 and divergent arms 2 and 3. Said arms normally tend to remain remote from one another and a clamping screw 41 having a wing nut 5 is disposed through said arms for clamping. The free extremities of the arms 2 and 3 are provided with curved clamping jaws 6 and 7 respectively, adapted to embrace the vertical suspending post or rod of the usual type of chandelier. In this form of my invention a plurality of defiector carriers are adapted to be supported thereby, said jaws 6 and 7 being provided with receiving loops described in detail hereinafter. The loops hereinbefore mentioned are provided by slotting the jaws 6 and 7, and rolling the metal struck therefrom to form said loops, the loops being designated 8 and 10.

In Fig. 3 I have illustrated a modified form of my invention, this form being adapted for use in connection with gas fix- 'tures which project laterally from a wall and are disposed in a horizontal plane. In this form of my invention I provide a clamping member formed of a strip 12 of metal bent upon itself to provide resilient clamping jaws 13 and 14 preferably resilient in nature, a retaining screw 15 being provided having a wing nut 16 thereon. The strip 12 is offset outwardly to provide longitudinally arranged grooves 17 in the arms, an opening 18 being formed in the strip at the point at which the same is bent upon itself. A supporting rod 18 is receivable in said grooves 17 and is provided with a lateral portion 19 supporting a deflecting plate 20 of any suitable type. When the wing 16 is tightened the rod will be secured in position. The lamp is designated 21 and may be of any usual type.

The uses to which the above described forms of my invention may be placed need not be enumerated here and it will be not-ed that both a vertical and horizontal adjustment of the device is facilitated in both forms of the invention.

It is to be understood, of course, that, while I have described the invention as adapted for use in supporting heat deflectors, the scope of its uses is practically unlimited. The outer extremity of the jaw 7 is rolled to provide a supporting loop 9.

While I have shown and described my invention as possessing a peculiar form and construction, it is desired that it be under stood that I may make such changes in the details thereof that do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

4. A supporting bracket, comprising a strip of resilient metal bent upon itself to form divergent arms, a loop formed adj acent the point of bending of such arms, clamping jaws arranged upon the free extremities of the arms, clamping means carried by said arms, and a plurality of complementally formed tongues struck from each of the clamping jaws and rolled upon themselves to constitute vertically disposed supporting loops, as and for the purpose set forth.
