ELECTRIC-LAMP FIXTURE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR G. MCABDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric- Lamp Fixtures, of which the following is a specification. I

The general object of the invention is to simplify and increase the efliciency of lamp fixtures and especially those employed with electric lamps, and to this end the invention consists in a fixture which is adapted for connection to the socket of an incandescent lamp, and further adapted to be detachably connected in a simple and expeditious manner with the incasing spherical ground glass globe frequently employed with an incandescent globe.

Other objects will appear and be better understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which,

The body 5 is preferably of metal and circular in contour. The size of the body 5 will, of course, be governed by the size of the globe 6 which is supported by the body.

a indicates a clamping ring formed in two sections or segments designated respectively by 11 and 12. The section or segment 11 is cast integrally with or otherwise fixedly secured to the lower face of the body and adjacent to the periphery thereof, while the section 12 has one end pivoted to one end of the section 11 and its opposite end adapted to interlock with the free end of the section 11. The free ends of the sections 11 and 12 are pierced by the pin 18 which passes Specification of Letters Patent.

through the body and serves to detachably secure the movable section to the fixed section.

The inner area of the clamp will correspond approximately to the area of the neck of the globe 6 and suitable studs 1 1 are formed with the rigid section 11 so as to engage the flange on the neck of the globe. An adjusting screw 15 screwed into the movable ring section is alsoadapted to engage the flange at the neck of the globe.

From the foregoing it will have been observed that the globe is securely held against displacement by the studs and screw when the sections of the ring are connected by the pin 13. When it is desired to disengage the globe the pin 13 is removed, whereupon the movable section 12 may be pulled outwardly to the position shown in Fig. 2 and this done, the globe may be readily removed from the studs 14. Thus it will be seen that the heretofore tedious operation of unscrewing one or more screws in order to disengage the globe will be dispensed with.

Although I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the specific arrangement and construction of parts since various changes will be made, within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

What I claim as new is:

In a fixture of the class described, the combination with a body, of a globe supporting ring consisting of two sections one of which is fixedly secured to the body and the other of which is pivoted at one end to one end of the fixed section and adapted at its opposite end to interlock with the free end of the fixed section, the said fixed section being provided on its inner surface with rigid studs, while the movable section is provided with an adjusting screw, said studsand screw being adapted to engage a flange at the neck of the globe when the said sections are interlocked.
