Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 29, i916..
Application led November 25', 1910. Serial No. 594,169;
lar articles and has for its object the provision of improved means for governing the attachment of such articles, and also improved means for increasing the facility of use of such articles.
The invention also contemplates improved button hole facilities which permit of simple manipulation of the button hole fabric with the button, and also adjustable features with relationto said button holes.
The above enumerated features together with others will readily be described in connection with the accompanying drawing illustrating my invention, in which- YFigure l is a rear elevation of a collar, a portion of which is broken away to more clearly illustrate features of the invention, and lFig. 2 is a section on line a-a of Fig. 1. Referring to Fig. 1, I show a turn down collar 1 having two sections respectively the inner section 2 and the outer section 3. In the inner band 2 is produced the cut-away portion 4 which permits of easy access to the button 5 to secure the collar to the neck band of the shirt 6. 'Ihe flap 7 is provided upon the inner face of the outerportion 3 `of the collar which -conceals the flap from view. This flap 7 is preferably provided wlth a plurality of button holes 8 and 9 which are positioned one above the other to permit the adjustment of the height which the rear portion of the collar may protrude beyond the coat collar of the user. rIhese button holes 8 and 9 are constructed to produce the tongue 10 which affords a means whereby the head of the collar button may be readily passed to secure the several parts together.
It will be evidentY from the foregoing explanation of the construction of the invention that a collar is produ-ced which will permit the collar to assume aiposition which lies closer to the neck, thus improving the appearance of the wearer.
I-Iaving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Iletters Patent is: p
A collar having folded inner and outer bands, a flap provided upon the interior face of the outer band, and a button-hole in said flap, the inner band being cut away to expose the button-hole, and said outer band rendering said button-hole invisible from without.
In :witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name this 19th day of November A. D., l1910.
HELGE A. BORRESEN.
