Description
A. MOORE.
MOTOR VEHlCLE LOCKING DEVICE. APPLICATION F\LED-0CT.15, I915.
Patented Jan. 25, 1916.
ANTOINE MOORE, 0F WAYNE, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR 0F ONE-HALF TO WILLIAM A.
MOORE, OF WAYNE, MICHIGAN.
MOTOB-VEHIGIJE-LOOKING DEVICE.-
Application filed October 15, 1915. 'Serial No. 56,008. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTOINE Moons, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Wayne, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in M0- tor-Vehicle-Locking Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to locking devices for motor vehicles and -is particularly de signed for use upon machines of that type in which the starting of the engine is dependent upon the operation of one or more push buttons.
The invention comprises the novel construction of locking device for the push buttons as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is an elevation partly in section showing the device applied to the push buttons of an automobile; Fig. 2 is a cross section of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the keeper for the 100 c.
A is a casing containing a control mechanism for an automobile starter including a plurality of push buttons B, C and D, and .to start the car one or more of these buttons must be operated. As shown, my improved locking device is applied to two of the buttons B and C, which when engaged thereby are securely fastened from operation. The keeper E of the lock is preferably a metal bar having a T-shaped slot F therein entering from one end. Adjacent to the entrance end f the slot the bar is provided with cross apertures G, which are adapted to receive the bolt H of a padlock 1. Thus when the bolt is engaged with said apertures the entrance slot will be effectually blocked.
' channel bar,
In use, when the car is to be locked the bolt H is detached from the 'keeper and the latter is slid into engagement with the buttons, as shown in Fig. 1. The bolt H is then reengaged with the apertures Gr, and locked, after which detachment of] the keeper is prevented.
To facilitate the manufacture of the keeper E, it is preferably in the form of a the channel J being open at one side of the bar. One of the flanges K of this channel bar is also provided with a longitudinal slot L extending from one end thereof, and this slot, together with the channel slot, forms the T-shaped groove forreceiving the button.
What I claim as my'invention is:
1. A. locking device, comprising a bar having a T-shaped slot extending longitudinally thereof from one end, the stem of said T being engageable with the shank and the head of the T with the head of a control button, and a locking bolt engageable with cross apertures in said bar to close the entrance to said T-shaped slot.
2. A locking device, comprising a channel bar having one of the flanges thereof longitudinally slotted from one end and engageable with the shank of a control button, the channel of said bar receivin the head of said button and the op osite ange forming a guard above said ead, and a locking bolt engageable with cross. apertures in the slotted flange of said bar.
In testimon whereof I afiix my signature in presence 0 two witnesses.
ANTOINE MOORE.
