Description
As illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, the form of the marking roller may be varied so as to simultaneously rule a plurality of parallel lines of the same or diierent thicknesses, the width of the line ruled depending upon the Width of the periphery of the disk. In Fig. 5, the roller, or disk L is adapted to rule two lines close together, one line, a thinone, being marked by the sha-rp peripheral edge Z, While a broader line is marked by the wider peripheraledge Z. The periplieraledges Z and Z are separated by a groove Z2, the width "owliich may be varied to determine the distancev between the rulings. In Fig. 6, the adaptability this invention is further illustrated, the roller or disk L2 there shown being adapted to rule five parallel lines, thin ones on either side and wider ones between. These thin lines are Vmarked by the sharp peripheral 'edges Z3, and the wider ones by the peripheral edges Z4. Fig. 6 further shows how the distance between the rulings mayy be varied. It will be understoodthat the marking rollers L and Lz'may be made integral or of a plurality of disks having peripheral edges of different widths and which may be carried in stock sothat any desired selectionV may be made and combination made up by securing the selected disks together'in any suitable manner.
Having thus described my invention what Witnesses I .claimy as new and desire to secure by Let-A ters Patent of the United States is 1. Ina ruling device, the combination with a guide, of an arm movable along said guide and having a longitudinal groove T-shapedV in cross section in one face and a slot in another face intersecting said gr0ove,.a marker Y having a head to ,fit and slide in said groove,
' and a set-screw passed through said slot and engaging said head for clamping said markerV 'at different points along said slotand groove.
2. In a ruling device, the combination with a guide, of anarm movable along said guide and having a longitudinal groove .T-shaped in cross-Sectionr inv onefaceand two slotsin another face intersectingV said groove, a 'support having a head to fit and slide in said groove, a marker also` having a head Vto fit 'and slide in said groove, and set-screws, one
passedthrough each of said slots and engaging one of the heads for clamping said marker and Support abdifferent points along said groove. f Y
In testimony whereof I have signed myname tothis specification in thepresence of two attesting witnesses.
