I Be it known that I, l ILLiAM H. HART,

in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Savings-Bank or .Money- Box, of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists of a money box or savings bank which is Composed of a body, and side walls attached thereto, said body being adapted to be expanded in pyramidal form with a flat quadrilateral-shaped base, and a triangular-shaped end, andto be sustained in open-out condition formlng a comparatively large area to receive the money, the box being prevented from improper folding and collapsion, but which in its knocked down condition comprisesa compact and comparatively thin deviceqwhich in 1ts en tirety is simple and inexpensive construction.

The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the im-.

portant instrumentalities thereof maybe varied, as long as they are included 1n the scope of the claims.

Referring to the drawings :1 designates the interior body of amoney boxor savings bank or as sometimes known asa mitebox, and 2 and 3 designate the exterior walls thereof, said body'being collapsible whereby the box may beplaced in fiat condition, as in Fig. 2, serviceable for packing, storing, transportation, etc, or opened out condition, as in Figs. 1 and 3 to receive money, oneof the walls having an inlet opening d therein for the introduction of the money into the box, and one of the members having an opening primarily covered by a seal 5 or otherwise, which latter is to be fractured or Specification of Letters Patent.

The sheet is folded on the several crease lines, thus'converting the sheet into the body 1 of comparatively pyramidal form comprising the inturned and inwardly foldable side folds 11, the inturned and upwardly foldable side folds 12 below the same, said folds 11 and 12 when in operative position forming triangular-shaped end members on the bottom' 13 which is quadrilateral in shape, the folded mitered fillets 14 at the lower corners of the body, the same closing said body at said corners so as to prevent the escape of the money therethrough, and the side flaps 15, and the bottom flaps 16' which latter rise above the bottom 13, and the several flaps 15 and 16 being secured to the inner faces of the exterior walls 2 and 8 of: the box by gumming' or otherwise and said walls are formed preferably of cardboard or other stiffand light material, thus closing the" openings 17 between the side flaps 15 and preservin the shape of the bod so that'the interior of the body is free to receive and conta n the money therein without liability to escape from the bottom and sides of the body, but primarily the tops of the side.
