Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom'it may concern.-

Be it known that I, citizen of the United States of America, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and ilseful Lighting-Fixture, of which the following is such a full, clear, and exact description as will enable any one skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to' the accompanying specification.

My invention relates to lighting fixtures and, particularly, to an improved construction of the portion thereof which is adjacent and attached to walls, ceilings, or other and forms a support for the remainder of the fixture; 7

Among the objects of my invention are to provide afixture construction by means of' which the fixture wiring may be conv'eniently inserted and connected to the sup ply conductors, to avoid the use of a slip stem for the canopy inclosing the connections, and, at the same time, provide means whereby the canopy may be readily positioned against the walls or ceiling whether the junction box or wire conduit terminates in line with their surface, or. as is frequently the case, terminates ,back of or SltlOIlGCl agamst wall or ceiling surfaces re-i projects beyond this surface.

In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is a vertical-cros sectional view; Fig. 2 is a plan'of what termed the main fixture supporting member or saddle.

The member 10 terminates a substantial distance below the lower end of the junction box and convenient space is provided for the insertion of and connection of the wiring. It will be understood that by simply turning the member 10, the canopy may be elevated or lowered with relation to the frame 5 and, therefore, may be readily pogardless of the position of the junction box with reference to these surfaces. Moreover, under all conditions, the shoulder of the member 10 is always adjacent to the canopy which results in a ance than if this shoulder were two or three inches below the canopy as is usually the case when the common form of slip stem of prior constructions. is employed.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent of the United States is:
