Be it known, that I, VINCENT F, JABLON- SKI, a citizen of the United; States, and a resident of New York, borough ofBrooklyn, county of Kings, and State ofNe York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Shower-Bath llixtures, of which the following is a, full, clear, and exact specification.= k I This inventionrelates to a classofappa ratus adapted to be used for bathing purposes. My invention has; for its object primarily toprovide an apparatus, or fixture designed to be employed to permit persons of various heights to take shower bath in a manner whereby the shower may be caused to flow on any desired part ofthe body sothatwetting the-hair especially of a woman bather may be avoided,.and which is constructed so asto be adaptable forms in conjunction with bath tubs arranged to receive their supply of water at either the right or left end thereof. I I I a The invention 7 consists essentially of a support adapted to bearranged'so as to be held stationary adjacent tothe receiverof source of water supply, and on this support above the receiver is j a curtain ring which is substantially, elliptic; in shape to permit the ring toibe disposed directly over thereceiver when the, support is arrangedin proximity to, either end of, the; receiver. Also on the support is a; curved perforated hollow water spray elementprovidedwith aninlet, and one end of this spray element is connected to the supportina manner so asto be adjusted rotatalblyi as well as up;- wardly and downwardly thereon for: dis tributingthewater in the form of a shower.

Other objects of the invention are to provide afiexible pipe leading fromtheisource ofwater supply: to the inlet of thespray ele-- ment; and to provide means whereby the support, may be fastenedito a wall, or'the like.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanyingdrawing forming a part of this specificationinwhich similar charactersof reference indicate corresponding parts in all the, views, the said inventionvbeing more fully describedhereinafter, and then pointed out in the claims at theendof the description.- i

and this supporting post is adapted tofbe dlsposed so as to be held stationary adjacent to thereceiver of the water of an appa ratus for permittingv persons to take a bath, for instance a bath tub, as 11, whiclrmay be arranged to receive water through the faucet, as 12, of a pipe 13 leading from a suitable source of supply at either the right, or left end of the tub, it being customary to apply the water supply fixtures to a bath tub it at either one of its ends as occasion requires.

The rod 19, extends through registered openings 20: and 20 of a union, or sleeve 21 formed with, two oppositely projecting apertured bosses 22 and 22 and fromthe sleeve midway between these bosses is a lug 23having a passage therein communieating with the opening 20 of the-sleeve of the bracket 15.

The rod 19 of the base-plate 18 is of'a length T so as to extend also through the passage of thelug'23, andthis lug is inserted through an opening 24 so as; to extend across the upper part of the recess 25 of a cap26 which is mounted .on top of the supportingpost" 10.

These split ends of the, ringare then mounted in a similar manner to the bracket 15, and there- 'quirement for employing a bracket as well as the splitting of the ring at its right end Aportion will thereby be dispensed with.

Theshower bath'curtain is "adjustably suspended from the ring by the use of a suitable number of rings-3 1, orotherwise, and by using the elliptic ring, as'explained, the curtain may bedisposed' so that its lower end will be interiorly-of the central part of thetubto'prevent water from flowing exteri'orly thereof when the bather is taking a shower;

servingto permitthe water to be distributed in the form of a shower on any desired part of the body of the bather withoutwet- 'tingthe hair especially of a woman bather, a spray element 35 is provided. The spray element 35 is preferably in the form of a curved hollow tubular pipe-like body hav ing one end closed by a cap, as 36, and at spaced intervals in the concaved part of the wall thereof are perforations, as 37, for distributing the water in a shower. On the other end of the spray element, or perfo rated-pipe-like'body 35 is a boss 3" having a recess 38 communicatingwith the interior of the perforated' pipe-likespray element and this boss has a nipple 39 projecting downwardly for serving as an inlet to admit water into the spray element. On the boss '37 is a sleeve 40which -is guided over the supporting post 10 before the bracket '14 is applied thereto, and this sleeve is of a diameter whereby the spray element 35 may be 'adjustedrotatably as well as upwardly and downwardly on the post 10. To retain the perforated pipe-like spray element 35 on wthe in position, in

When a person desires totake a shower bath,- and after the curtain is properly adjusted in the water receiver, or-tub, the'screw 41 of the spray element 35' is loosened from its en'- gagement with the post 10'. -The'spray, element 35 may then be guided upwardly and downwardly on the postlO as well as being rotatably moved circumferentially of the body of the bather following the opening of the faucet'of the source of water supply.

The water delivered from the fauojet through the pipe 42, and through the spray element will thereby be showered on the desire parts of the body of the bather.

In the foregoing description, I have em bodied the preferred form of my invention,

but I do not wish'to be understood aslimiting myself thereto as I am aware that modifications may be made thereinwithout ,de parting from the principle, or sacrificing any of the advantages of this, invention,

brackets each having a cap in which the ends of the postare seated, and said brackets be- 1ng adapted to be fastened to a support in a verticalposition adjacent to one end of a bath tub, or other water receiver, a curved pipe-like spray element having one end movably connected to the support so as to be adjusted upwardly and downwardly thereon as well as being swung circumferentially over the tub whereby water may be showered on the desired parts of the body of a bather, and the said spray element having an inlet for the admission of water, a flexible ipe means connected to the inlet, leading rom a source of water supply for delivering water to the spray element, two oppositely disposed apertured bosses on the upper bracket of the post, and a split substantially elliptic ring having its ends inserted in the aper- -tures of the bosses, as set forth and for the purpose specified. v a u 3. having an inlet in its other end to admit water thereinto, a sleeve on the inlet end of the perforated pipe, and adjustably movable on the support whereby the perforated pipe may be adjusted upwardly and downwardly as well as being swung circumferentially over the tub so that water may be showered on the desired parts of the body of a bather, means connected to the inlet, leading from a source of water supply for delivering water to the spray element, two oppositely disposed apertured bosses on the upper bracket of the post, and a split substantially elliptic ring having its ends inserted in the apertures of the bosses, as set forth and for the purpose specified.
