IMPROVEMENT IN' THE MANUFACTURE OF CANDLES. l
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making past of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES HAVARD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Candles. 4
My invention consists in providing a candle with openings running parallel with and outside oi'the wick, thereby preventing the candle from overrunning.
These longitudinal openings have the property of receiving any melted matter not consumed by the flame, thereby preventing such melted matter from overrunning on the outside of the candle.
To enable others to make and use my invention, '1 proceed to describe the manner of making or manufacturing a candle such as constitutes my invention.
. I provide the inside of a candle-mold with one or more rods or tubes, which are fastened to the tip or head of the candle-mold. and running through the whole length of the same, the said rods or tubes being candle.
