DESIGN FOR A FLAME-SPREADER FOR LAMPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,809, dated November 18, 1894.
Application filed December 21,1892. Serial No. 455,946. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, IIIRAM W. HAYDEN, of \Vaterhury, in the countyof New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Thimbles or Flame-Spreaders for Lamps, of which the following, is a specification.
This design is applied to a specific article known in the lamp trade as a thimble, or flame spreader, and is to he placed in connection with the wick tube of any central draft lamp.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a thimhle or flame spreader, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section thereof.
The leading feature of my design consists in a plain band or annular surface having an inward and an outward curve in the vertical direction, and arranged between two annular perforated portions.
Referring by letter to the drawings A designates the thimble or flame spreader. It has a plain annular lower surface a; an annular perforated portion a, above the surface a, which is slightly concaved vertically; a plain hand or annular surface (L2, above the perforated portion a, which, in a vertical direction is turned inward and then outward; an annular perforated portion (1 above the plain band or annular surface (1?, shown, in a vertical direction, as bent inward, then inward and then outward, and a closed top a.
\Vhat I claim is The design for a thimble or flame spreader for lamps substantially as shown and described.
