DISPLAY-BACK.
, and useful Improvements in'Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
My inventionrelates to racks for displaying articles for sale, such as rugs, and the main object thereof is to so support a plurality of said articles as to be readily displayed individually.
A further object is to provide such a rack from which` any desired one of the articles on display can be easily removed, without disturbing any 'of the other articles thereon.
A further object is to provide such a device whereby the weight of the displayed y articles serves to lock the same more firmly on the rack.
A further object is to provide such racks which may easily be moved from place to place, which require little floor space, which hold many of the articles on',display,`and which are comparatively inexpensive.
My invention is fully described in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the separate parts are designated by -the same' reference characters in each of the views, and in which:- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention, ready for use; and Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, in use, with articles displayed thereon. I
In the drawings forming a part of this application I have shown a rack comprising two end members a and b, joined by transverse braces c, c2 and c3, the first of which has a strip c4 arranged thereon, segmentally formed, and through which are passed a plurality of pointed barbs c5. i
The end member a consists of front and rear uprights a2 and a3, the latter considerably higher than the former, and joined by braces ai4 and a5, the latter of which is provided with casters a, and the member b consisting of front and rear uprights b2 and b3 joined by braces b* and b5 and the latter of which is provided with similar casters.
Pivoted to the front uprights a2 and b2 is a frame d formed of side bars Z2-d2, and
transverse bars d3 and d4, the former of which has a segmental strip 'd5 thereon having barbs d upwardly .directed therefrom,
Specication of Letters Patent.
and it will be noted lthat the pivotal point of the said frame is somewhat nearer the ,transverse brace c, approzmately as shown in Fig. l, and said transverse bars are joined by means of slats J7.
In the present showing rugs 'e are displayed, being arranged on lthe frame d at first, said frame having beenY moved into the vertical position indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, in such manner that the barbs d pass through the rugs at a point nearer the upper end than the lower of said rugs, in the positions shown, whereby a portion of said rugs will depend to the rear of the frame but the major part will depend at the front thereof and, when the frame is moved into its full line position, the weight thereof and of the rugs serves to bind said rugs against the brace c, it being assumed that all the rugs are now in front of the frame Y ready for individual display.
of the rugs escaping from the rack because Y of the barbs c5 and d6 but, if it is desired to remove one for sale or for other inspection, all that is necessary is to raise the frame d away from the brace e, remove the desired rug, and permit theframe to resume normal Patented May 4, 1915.

position, the rugs on either side of the one desired being thrown over either the brace c or the frame d, or both, this removal of one rug not disturbing the others in the slightest.
My invention is simple, but well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed, and I may make changes therein to adapt the same to other articles or to meet other conditions, within the scope of the following claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
l. A display rack, comprising a support, front and rear nprights thereon, the latter of which is higher than the former, a brace across the tops of said, rear uprights, and
a frame pvoted to the tops of said front uprights and adapted to bear against said rear uprights to bind displayed articles therebetween.
5 2. A display rack, comprising front and rear uprights, the latter of which are higher than the former, a. frame, pivots passed through the sides thereof, below the center v thereof, and through the tops of said -front 10 uprights, whereby said frame will bear against said' rear uprightsthrough gravity to bind displayed articles therebetween.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
