IMPROVEMENT IN4 SHAWL-STRAPS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Gnsmvos BENSON BROAD, of Waterville, in the county of Kennebeo and State of Maine, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Shawl-Straps and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of thislspeciication, in whieh Figure 1 is a detail sectional view 'of my improved device taken through the line x z, fig. 3.
Figure 2 is a detail section of the same taken through the line y y, iig. 1.
Figure 3 is a top view of the same, the straps being broken away.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish a. neat, simple, and convenient device for confining a shawl or other bundle for carriage; and 4 yIt consists in the device constructed as hereinafter more fully described. u

Upon the end parts of the main body or bar of the device A is formeda cross-bar, al, as shown in iig. 3,- the ends a. of the said body projecting beyond the said cross-bars al.
The cross-bars al of the device A are cast with recesses upon their under sides to receive the straps bundle.
D is the hand piece of the device, which 'is made of leather rounded and swelled, or made larger in the middle, as shown in figs.` 1 and 2.
To the ends of the hand piece D are riveted caps E, having eyes formed in them to receive the keepers 'F, the ends of the arms of which pass through. the
middle part ofthe cross-bars cl and are riveted to them.
The metallic part A ofthe device is designed to be jnpanued or plated with silver or other suitable metal.
Having thus described my invention, v Y I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved shawl-strap, consisting of the metallic part A al az, straps B O, hand piece D, cap-eyes E, and keepers F, seid parts being constructed and arranged substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes set forth. l
