To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR F. BELL- INGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mohawk, in the county of Herkimer and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket- Holders, of which the following is a specification. Y

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ticket holders, and has for its principal object to provide a device which is adapted to be secured to the sides of cars between windows to hold tickets.

Another object of the invention is to pr0-- vide a device which will hold tickets, price cards, checks, and similar devicesto prevent the same from becoming displaced or lost.

A further object of the invention is to i provide a simple and effective ticket holder which may be easily and cheaply constructed and which will be a material benefit to "and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which,

Referring now to the drawings by characters of reference, the'numeral l designates the back of a car seat carrying a suitable block 2. The ticket holder is designated generally by the numeral 3, and is shown in position on the block. The ticket holder 3 above referred to, preferably comprises the plate 4: which is substantially hexagonal and is provided at one end with the loop 5, the use of which will appear as the description proceeds. Formed laterally of the plate 4 are the screw receiving apertures 6, by means of which the device maybe secured in place. At the end of the plate 4 opposite the loop 5 is the 'upstandingpost 7 having formed near its upper extremity a groove 8. The

upper terminal of the post is preferably spherical as at 9 and is arranged to hold the cooperating member, which will be more fully hereinafterdescribed, firmly in place. The cooperating member above referred to,

is designated by the numeral 10 and is pref erably a coil spring having one end reduced as at 11 and provided with the loop 12 which is arranged to surround the post 7 and lie in the groove 8 as clearly illustrated in the drawings. The end of the spring opposite the looped end 12 is provided with the hook member 13 which is arranged .to extend through the apertureformed by the loop 5, and thus firmly hold the spring to the plate;

It will be apparent'from the foregoing that in'use, the plate 4 is secured in place on the back of a seat'at the desired point and the spring 10 placed thereon as illustrated in Fig. 1. In this position it willbe apparent that the spring will be slightly expanded and when the conductor receives the mileage from the person who is traveling, the receipt is placed between the coils of the spring as at 14:, and thus it will be seen that the said receipt is held in such a way as to be visible and any disturbance of the traveler is unnecessary. p

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope ofthe in vention' as definedin theappended claim.

Having thus described my invention, I

claim: I i A ticket holder of the character described including a base plate, a coil spring secured to one endof the base plate, a reduced eX- tension formed on the opposite end of the coil spring, a post carried by the opposite end of the base plate, a loop on the reduced extension and arranged to surround the post,

to hold the coil spring slightly extended and in parallel relation with the base plate, the loop being arranged to be detached from the post to give access to the base of the plate.
